Summary:

The Project Manager Trainee is responsible for developing the technical, project management, and solutions development skills necessary to support the identification, development, and execution of customer capital projects.

This role participates in a structured trainee program designed to build future project management and solutions development capability within the Rensenhouse Projects Team. The Project Trainee works alongside Project Managers, Sales Professionals, Manufacturers, Vendors, and Subject Matter Experts to learn how customer opportunities are identified, developed, documented, proposed, and supported through execution.

The core focus of this role is learning the opportunity development portion of the project lifecycle while building the technical, commercial, customer-facing, and organizational skills required for future project management and solutions development responsibilities.

Reports to: Senior Project Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Work Experience

  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn company software platforms

  • Current, valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

  • Authorization to work in the United States (without requiring work authorization sponsorship)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Communication - Strong written and verbal communications skills, professional customer facing presence, ability to interact with customers, vendors, manufactures, contractors, and internal team members

  • Problem Solving - Able to identify issues, gather information, ask appropriate questions, and work collaboratively to support customer and project objectives

  • Development Mindset - Motivated to learn, accept coaching, ask questions, develop technical expertise, and advance toward future project management or solutions development responsibilities

Working Conditions:

Conditions vary based on the trainee’s current segment of the training and will include warehouse, office, and external environments. During some segments, activities will include lifting, sorting, standing, possible extreme heat/cold conditions. Office segments may include sitting for extended periods. Various segments may include some travel; both by car and by air.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Essential Job Functions:

  • Learning all aspects of the CED business

  • Attending classes online as well as in-person at various locations

  • On the job training and mentoring from senior project managers and leadership

  • Establish, develop, and maintain relationships and rapport with customers and vendors
