The Montana Department of Revenue administers almost 40 state taxes, property appraisals, alcoholic beverage laws, cannabis laws, and unclaimed property for the state of Montana. The Technology Services Division is an internal support division that provides application development, quality assurance and technical operations (network and desktop) services to all other Department of Revenue divisions in meeting their goals and objectives of providing services to the State of Montana and its citizens. DUTIES Job Overview: This position resides in theTechnology Services Division (TSD)ofDepartment of Revenue. The Chief Applications Officer (CAO) manages the Applications Development Bureau (ADB), analyzes and designs customized technology systems based on the requirements of available IT systems, Departmental needs, budgetary requirements, and user ability. The incumbent is responsible to upper management for evaluating and recommending technical development of information systems and has primary responsibility for project management, systems analysis, systems design, maintenance, data quality, technical assistance, and problem resolution relative to computer applications on any platform. This position supervises the ADB staff and reports to the Technology Services Division (TSD) Administrator / Chief Information Officer. /Knowledge of:/ * Computers and database management systems (i.e. Gentax, AT-Pro) * General management practices including strategic planning * Principles and methods of work planning * Performance management including setting goals, objectives, and measures * Quality assurance methods * Organizational development * Governmental organizational structure, accounting, and State and federal funding requirements * Legislative and administrative rule processes and guidelines * Compliance requirements and practices * Customer service standards * Agency policies, procedures, guidelines, and employment law * Operational and program planning * Supervisory principles and practices * Project management * Records management /Skills in:/ * Research and analysis * Accuracy and attention to detail * Conflict resolution * Microsoft programs and database applications * Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication * Data collection, analysis, and reporting techniques * Business communications You would be a great fit for this position if you: * Demonstrate self-motivation * Follow instructions * Provide timely, customer service * Handling multiple priorities under deadlines Working Conditions * Work hours may exceed 40 hours from time to time, including weekends. * Office environment. * Lifting is infrequent, less than 15 pounds. * Some travel may be required, must have a valid driver’s license. *REMOTE/TELEWORK:*This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite within the state of Montana. This position would be required to report to a Department of Revenue office assigned by the supervisor.
