Full job description
Position: Grounds Crew Location: District-Wide Hourly Rate: $17.25 per hour Benefits: Individual Benefits Provided Position Summary: Grounds Crew members are responsible for maintaining school grounds. This includes lawn maintenance, planting, snow removal, and other related tasks. Essential Functions: 1. Adjusts and repairs grounds equipment such as lawn mowers, sprinklers, shears, etc using small hand tools 2. Repairs parking lots by filling in cracks/holes with gravel or asphalt 3. Paints traffic lines, curbs, and parking lines 4. Maintains district landscaping. This includes cultivating, planting, watering, fertilizing, weeding, edging, pruning, triming, etc. 5. Maintains district lawns. This includes mowing, weed-eating, spraying, fertilizing, etc. 6. Installs and maintains district signs and posts 7. Leaf removal activities such as raking, collecting and disposing of leaves. Clears storm drains and traps 8. Snow removal from sidewalks, parking lots, and entrances using shovels, snow blowers, plow vehicles, and small front loading tractors. 9. Spreads salt and other anti skid materials to prevent slipping 10. Covers trees, shrubs, plant beds with fabric to protect landscape from ice and salt damage 11. Safely operates yard equipment such as push mowers, tillers, weed eaters, leaf blowers and edgers. 12. Safely operates large equipment such as riding mowers, dump trucks, back hoes, front loaders, chippers, skil loaders, and vaccuums. 13. Performs routine maintenance and repairs on equipment such as fueling, lubricating, and cleaning 14. Applies herbicide and pesticides in a safe manner as a licensed applicator or a registered technician with required training and testing 15. Loads, moves and transfers large school items when necessary 16. pressure washers outdoor areas to remove stains, graffiti, gum, etc 17. Assists with unloading trucks at Central Receiving with a forklift with additional help is needed 18. Maintains playground fall surface areas to keep playgrounds safe and clean 19. Assists the assigned custodian with cleaning in the Annex when needed 20. sets traffic horses to ensure the orderly flow of traffic 21. Assists with setup for large events 22. Assists with maintenance duties when needed 23. Clearances required upon employment
