Job Summary:
Manages nurse midwifery services and operations by leading recruitment and retention efforts, developing and approving staffing and clinic schedules, establishing and implementing policies and performance standards, organizing team meetings, supporting budget planning, and analyzing performance metrics to recommend operational improvements aligned with department goals. Provides and manages comprehensive midwifery care across the prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and gynecological stages by collaborating with cross-functional providers on complex cases, educating patients and families, modeling culturally competent, patient-centered care, and identifying and implementing evidence-based protocols while staying current with advancements in midwifery. Manages the professional development of midwifery staff through mentoring, training, connecting staff and applicable residents to continuing education, encouraging case discussions, and leading community outreach, workshops, and educational initiatives, including coordinating clinical rotations for midwifery students as needed. Guides regulatory compliance and quality improvement efforts by working with leadership to ensure adherence to TJC and regulatory requirements, proactively addressing patient safety risks, overseeing documentation and participation in audits, and leading quality improvement initiatives and peer review activities as directed.

Guides regulatory compliance and quality improvement efforts by: collaborating with department leadership to ensure adherence to The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, state and federal regulations, and accreditation requirements; advocating for patient safety by proactively identifying and addressing potential risks in clinical care processes and partnering with senior leaders to implement risk prevention strategies; participating in audits and inspections, and overseeing documentation systems to ensure readiness for regulatory reporting and reviews; leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing maternal and neonatal outcomes; and may include conducting peer review as directed.

Manages nurse midwifery services and operations by: leading the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of midwifery team members; evaluating clinic and patient appointment demands to develop and approve schedules that ensure appropriate staffing, clinic access, and continuous in-patient care; developing and implementing policies and performance standards to drive operational efficiency and continuity of care across the department; organizing agendas and leading team meetings to address operational updates, clinical developments, and team performance; facilitating and advocating for the cross-functional integration of nurse-midwifery functions to enhance care delivery; assisting in budget planning and resource allocation with senior leaders to optimize financial performance and support quality care strategies; and developing, monitoring, and analyzing performance metrics to recommend areas for operational improvement and ensure alignment with department goals.

Manages the professional development of midwifery staff by: mentoring, training, and identifying and providing access to continuing education opportunities for staff and/or family practice or OBGYN residents where applicable; encouraging participation in case discussions to foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement; promoting midwifery care through the strategic planning and development of community outreach programs, workshops, and educational initiatives; and may include coordinating clinical rotations for midwifery students from accredited programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.

Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) AND minimum four (4) years of experience in nurse-midwifery.
