Full job description

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Tax Accountant to join a public accounting team in Ohio. This position is well suited for a detail-focused team member who can manage tax preparation and bookkeeping work with accuracy, sound judgment, and strong organization. The role offers the opportunity to handle a range of client tax matters while contributing to a dependable, service-oriented accounting environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare individual and business tax returns from initial document review through final completion, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable tax regulations.

  • Maintain and review client bookkeeping records, reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies to support complete and reliable financial reporting.

  • Use QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online to manage accounting data, update financial activity, and assist with client recordkeeping needs.

  • Apply knowledge of individual income tax rules to analyze financial information and produce well-supported tax filings.

  • Work with tax preparation software, including Drake Tax Software, to complete returns efficiently and maintain organized supporting documentation.

  • Coordinate multiple client assignments at once, prioritizing deadlines while delivering consistent, high-quality work.

  • Communicate with internal team members and clients to gather required information, clarify issues, and keep projects moving forward.

  • Support a detail-focused in-office accounting practice by handling day-to-day tax and bookkeeping responsibilities with dependability and attention to detail. Requirements • At least 5 years of experience in general bookkeeping and accounting work.

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience preparing income tax returns.

  • Practical proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.

  • Strong understanding of individual income tax regulations and the ability to complete returns independently from start to finish.

  • Prior experience in public accounting is preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent certification is helpful but not required.

  • Strong organizational skills, self-direction, reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
