Job Overview

This is a hybrid position and will require at least 2 days in the office in East Dubuque, IL.

As a Corporate Paralegal at Crescent Electric Supply, you will serve as one of the points of contact for review and legal research for customer purchase orders, customer contracts, vendor contracts, and other contracts and agreements. In this role, you will leverage your knowledge of contract law to identify compliance with company standard terms and conditions of sales and quotations. Your effective communication skills will aid in drafting correspondence, taking part in contract negotiations, and addressing questions regarding the contract's contents.

PRIMARY DUTIES :

  • Interact regularly with other internal team members in Sales, Finance, Supplier Management, Senior Management, outside attorneys, and other related stakeholders throughout the intake, negotiation, and finalization of the contract lifecycle. Oversee agreement process through final signature.

  • Renew and maintain various business entity filings for the company, including, but not limited to annual permits, business license renewals, and secretary of state filings in a timely manner.

  • Provide backup for the recording of shareholder stock transactions and shareholder distributions.

  • Help to gather information and prepare spreadsheets for our annual business insurance renewal and other administrative aspects of enterprise risk management.

  • Work with legal counsel to provide documentation for litigation, mediation, arbitration, and response to complaints.

  • Attend department/company meetings and events as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

  • Maintain awareness of evolving AI technologies and actively explore how AI can improve efficiency, insights, and business performance. Demonstrate curiosity, responsible use of AI tools, and a commitment to continuously building digital and AI fluency.

SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of contract law, research, and experience in negotiating and reviewing contracts is preferred.

  • Strong legal research and investigation skills.

  • Superb attention to detail, as well as organizational and multi-tasking skills.

  • Proficient in computer applications, specifically Microsoft Office 365 including Excel, Word, and Copilot.

  • Utilize AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making in daily work.

  • Work well under pressure, in a fast-paced setting.

  • Proven ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders

  • Ability to think logically and analytically.

  • Exercise confidentiality in all situations.

  • Courage to take initiative, address problems, and make continuous process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and Paralegal certification; other appropriate educational background and experience will be considered.

  • 2+ years of experience supporting the contract review function.

  • Experience working within commercial, for-profit company is a plus.

  • Valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • Occasionally standing and walking. Most of the time sitting, use of hands/fingers, talking/hearing. Often reaching with hands/arms.

  • Close vision needed (clear vision at 20 inches or less) to be able to view computer screen.

  • Ability to travel less than 5% of the time, with overnight stays on an occasional basis.

  • May be required to work more than 40 hours per week.

PAY DETAILS:

  • The expected rate of pay for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 annually; inclusive of a bonus opportunity.
