IT Infrastructure Engineer

Location: New York, NYJob Type: Full-TimeSchedule: 35 Hours Weekly (Day Shift)Salary Range: $75,000 $180,000 annually (Based on experience) Job OverviewThe Financial Information Services Agency (FISA) and Office of Payroll Administration (OPA) are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer / Mainframe Systems Manager to lead enterprise-level infrastructure operations within the Shared Systems Division. This role is responsible for overseeing IBM mainframe environments, infrastructure operations, disaster recovery planning, software lifecycle management, and strategic technology initiatives in a large-scale enterprise environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the Mainframe Systems team and daily infrastructure operations Ensure high system availability and compliance with SLA requirements Oversee IBM mainframe systems, storage systems, program products, and subsystems Provide leadership in z/OS administration, hardware configuration, and disaster recovery planning Participate in critical production troubleshooting and provide support when required Analyze system performance and conduct capacity planning activities Monitor infrastructure performance and escalate operational issues as needed Lead hardware and software upgrade projects and implementation activities Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and data center operations Maintain awareness of software releases, updates, and maintenance schedules Research and implement emerging infrastructure technologies Manage infrastructure documentation, technical standards, and operational procedures Support infrastructure budgeting, forecasting, and modernization initiatives Minimum QualificationsCandidates must meet one of the following requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of experience in datacenter engineering, cloud operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineeringOR Bachelors degree with 8+ years of related IT infrastructure experienceOR Equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred Qualifications 20+ years of infrastructure management experience in enterprise environments Strong experience with IBM Mainframe z/OS systems Experience with AIX, Linux, or Unix systems Knowledge of enterprise storage systems and disaster recovery solutions Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and documentation abilities Experience leading technical teams and cross-functional projects Ability to quickly adapt to and implement new technologies Benefits Health Insurance Pension Plan (NYCERS Tier 6) 401(k), 457, and Roth IRA plans Paid Holidays Sick & Annual Leave Dental & Vision Coverage Commuter Benefits Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
