HR Affirmative Action Specialist
POSITION DETAILS
Baruch College's Office of Diversity, Compliance, and Equity Initiatives (ODCEI) is one way that the Baruch College community demonstrates its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion by broadening outreach and recruitment, strengthening institutional diversity infrastructures, developing strategic diversity plans, and cultivating diversity
awareness and appreciation.
The HR Affirmative Action Specialist performs analytical, research and administrative support work to implement Baruch College's recruitment, search, selection and retention activities and initiatives. The specialist reports to the Executive Chief Diversity Officer (ECDO). As an administrator in the Office of Diversity, Compliance and Equity Initiatives (ODCEI), the Affirmative Action Specialist also collaborates closely with the Deputy Chief Diversity Officer and Title IX/EEO Coordinator and many other students and colleagues in the Baruch College community on a regular basis.
The Specialist will focus on monitoring compliance with anti-discrimination laws, collecting required data, and creating reports for compliance, recruiting activities, and outcomes. Further, as a member of the ODCEI team, they will also contribute to diversity awareness programs aimed at promoting an inclusive environment for students and colleagues while engaging the Baruch College community as a campus diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) leader. This position provides engagement with many aspects of diversity and compliance as well as exposure to any and all professional development opportunities that are available to CUNY educators, practitioners, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) professionals.

Participates in and promotes the implementation of the City University of New York's Affirmative Action (AA) policies as well as other diversity, equity, inclusion and compliance programs, activities, and initiatives for the benefit of the entire Baruch College community.

Advises administrative and faculty search committees on recruitment, hiring, and best practices.

Interprets information on under-representation for relevant constituencies, reviews recruitment plans and documentation, and monitors employee recruitment and selection to ensure compliance with EEO/AAP policies and plans.

Administers recruitment, appointment, and retention processes, in consultation with the ECDO, for all faculty and staff positions in accordance with University Bylaws and federal and state laws pertaining to equal employment opportunity and affirmative action.

Conducts confidential intake and investigations associated with complaints of discrimination, harassment and retaliation. Drafts memos and correspondence.

Provides training, as needed.

Manage logistics and delivery of instructions given to hiring search committee members.

Prepares internal and external reports regarding the College's equal employment opportunity and affirmative action efforts and accomplishments including the federally mandated Affirmative Action Plan.

Provides instructions and general advice to students, faculty, and others seeking information on ODCEI activities and policies and helps prepare and deliver innovative communications and training programs on diversity, compliance with employment law, implementation of the Affirmative Action Plan, and other topics as needed.

Track ODCEI activities and update databases to ensure completeness and accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
