Summary

About the Position: This position is located at the Naval Medical Center San Diego in San Diego with Directorate of Mental Health. Recruitment or relocation incentives MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Advanced Leave Accrual MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Advanced In-Hire MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

  • Make behavioral health diagnoses and provide individual and group therapy, using various modalities such as brief problem-focused psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and client-centered therapy through evidence based clinical modalities.
  • Provide targeted assessments of patients, including diagnostic impressions or functional status focused on the presenting problem.
  • Plan and organize work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust long and short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Supervise assigned professional and paraprofessional employees, military personnel, federal civilian employees, and provide technical oversight to contract employees assigned to the Clinic.
  • Formulate mental health interventions and assist with implementation and monitoring of treatment plans.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience One year specialized experience including conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations, providing individual and group therapy, formulates behavioral health interventions, and instructing others on work or administrative matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
