Thermo Fisher’s Single-Use Technologies Division (SUD) is growing and expanding rapidly as these technologies come into more broad application across development, clinical and commercial drug manufacturing. Our flexible and rigid consumables business is paired with our hardware and controls enabling our customers to drive faster biologics development, reduce time to market and implement more efficient and flexible manufacturing.

We are looking for a BEA Hardware Applications Engineer II to join our Technical Solutions team within the Single-Use Technologies Division at Thermo Fisher Scientific. This position may be located in Santa Clara, CA, or Logan, UT.

How will you make an impact?

As part of the Bioproduction Group’s Bioprocess Equipment and Automation (BEA) Technical Solutions organization, reporting to the Sr. Manager, BEA Technical Solutions, the BEA Hardware Applications Engineer II will provide technical solutions integrating the bioprocess capital equipment and automation needed to produce biologics in the development of proposals in close collaboration with the Technical Solution’s Commercial Project Manager and the Commercial and Product Management organizations, as well as R&D, Marketing, and Operations functions to provide optimal solutions for our customers.

In addition, the BEA Hardware Applications Engineer II will ensure existing processes and systems are optimized, streamlined and continuously improved to manage the business, increase productivity and ensure the highest-level customer experience.

What will you do?

  • Provide technical solutions in the development of proposals in response to customer inquiries across the SUD BEA business.

  • Complete technical pipeline reviews in coordination with the commercial project managers and technical sales to ensure a timely response.

  • Provide technical guidance and collaborate closely with the Technical Solution’s Commercial Project Manager to ensure that proposals are provided in a manner consistent with established KPIs.

  • Coordinate with Product Management on technical solutions to ensure alignment with margin and other expected targets in support of established business unit goals.

  • Drive continuous improvement of processes to improve efficiency of the team and enhance customer satisfaction. Responsible for all proposal systems and recommended upgrades.

  • Assist as needed on technical training with the sales team on products.

  • Learn all products, equipment and automation to ensure a full understanding of solutions offered, with a focus on the BEA hardware portfolio.

  • Participate in practical process improvement (PPI) meetings to streamline workflow and quality of the current state process.

How will you get here?

  • BS in Engineering or technical discipline strongly preferred

  • Associate's Degree in science or technical discipline required

  • 3+ years of experience with programming, data entry, and Microsoft Excel strongly preferred

  • Experience supporting technical sales

  • Prior experience with equipment & consumable offerings in biotechnology is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Works well in a fast-pace environment as a self-starter

  • Ability to manage multiple technical requests with excellent communication to internal and external teams

  • Proficient in all Microsoft programs

  • Skilled with Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent organization and communication skills

  • Proven ability to generate technical solutions in rapid growth global market segments

  • Demonstrated ability to function in a matrixed environment with international sites and team
