Staff Accountant with Government Experience

• Record and post journal entries accurately to support daily accounting operations and period-end activities.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve variances in a timely manner.

• Assist with month-end closing tasks, including account analysis and preparation of supporting schedules.

• Prepare financial reports and related documentation to support management review and operational decision-making.

• Maintain accurate accounting records in Tyler Munis and ensure transactions are properly classified and documented.

• Use advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis tools to organize, review, and interpret financial information.

• Support tax-related accounting activities, including work connected to corporate and sales tax reporting requirements.

• Coordinate multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced accounting environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

• At least 3 years of accounting experience, with preference for work completed in a government, municipal, or public sector setting.

• Working knowledge of GAAP and other applicable accounting standards.

• Hands-on experience using Tyler Technologies Munis is required.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and financial data analysis.

• Demonstrated experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting packages.

• Strong understanding of general ledger activity and month-end close processes.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to manage shifting priorities.
