Allen Correctional Center is seeking a dedicated, experienced, and mission-focused Corrections Captain to join our leadership team. This role is central to maintaining the safety, security, and operational excellence of our facility. Three years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security plus one of the following:

  1. Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR
  2. One year of experience in any field; OR
  3. Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.

One year of this experience must have been in a position equivalent in scope of responsibility or complexity of work performed to a Corrections Lieutenant in the State service.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Oversees daily operations within the assigned unit or area of Allen Correctional Center, ensuring a safe, secure, and orderly environment.

  • Provides direct supervision, guidance, and performance oversight to correctional staff, promoting professionalism, accountability, and adherence to departmental standards.

  • Monitors inmate behavior, resolves conflicts, and ensures consistent enforcement of facility rules, policies, and procedures.

  • Coordinates and leads emergency responses, critical incidents, and security operations, ensuring staff readiness and effective incident management.

  • Conducts inspections, reviews reports, and implements corrective actions to maintain compliance with state regulations, accreditation standards, and internal policies.

  • Participates in policy development, operational planning, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance facility safety and efficiency.

  • Collaborates with leadership, staff, and external partners to support rehabilitation efforts, institutional programs, and overall facility mission.

Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: DETAIL OF A permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)

  • An employee selected for detail may be permanently promoted to this position if a position becomes available.

Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $29.60 per hour. There is ‘Premium Pay’ for this position: A rate between $.50 an hour and $1.00 an hour for each hour worked based on years of service with DOC, in addition to regular pay. Other Important Information:

  • Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD-214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.
  • Any qualifying experience that is based on college credit/college hours should have an accompanying transcript for verification.• This is a 24-hour facility.
