Full job description

Description

As MISO’s Manager of Process and Product Operations, you will build and lead the Product Operations function that enables Product Management to deliver value consistently, efficiently, and at scale. Reporting to the Director of Product Management, this role will establish and evolve the Product Operating System through operational standards, governance, portfolio visibility, process improvement, performance measurement, workflow optimization, and automation. The role will provide Product Leadership with actionable insights that improve transparency, prioritization, planning effectiveness, decision quality, portfolio visibility, and execution readiness across the product portfolio.

The right person will be a systems thinker who can move comfortably between operational analysis, portfolio governance, process optimization, performance measurement, workflow automation, executive reporting, and cross-functional facilitation. This role is not responsible for defining product strategy, owning product outcomes, managing backlogs, or directing team-level delivery practices. Instead, it is responsible for improving the environment in which product teams operate and helping Product Leadership identify opportunities to improve Product Operating System effectiveness and portfolio execution.

Some of the impactful contributions you’ll make as MISO’s Manager of Process and Product Operations include:

  • Establish and continuously evolve MISO’s Product Operations framework, governance model, operating standards, and rhythms to enable consistent, high‑quality product delivery.

  • Partner closely with Product Leadership to refine intake, prioritization, planning, execution readiness, release readiness, and portfolio management practices across the product lifecycle.

  • Define and maintain Product Operations success measures that track operational effectiveness, governance maturity, planning quality, portfolio visibility, and continuous improvement outcomes.

  • Build and manage dashboards, scorecards, and reporting mechanisms that provide leaders with real‑time visibility into portfolio flow, delivery readiness, operational risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities.

  • Monitor performance across product teams to identify systemic bottlenecks, workflow inefficiencies, governance gaps, and recurring impediments that hinder delivery flow.

  • Analyze trends and patterns across products and initiatives to generate actionable insights that enhance operational effectiveness, leadership decision‑making, and portfolio transparency.

  • Map and evaluate end‑to‑end product and business processes to uncover unnecessary handoffs, duplication, control gaps, and opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Lead process‑improvement efforts using Lean, value‑stream thinking, root‑cause analysis, and data‑driven measurement to drive continuous improvement across teams.

  • Identify and implement workflow automation opportunities using enterprise platforms, APIs, AI‑enabled automation, and orchestration tools, while ensuring proper governance, monitoring, and compliance.

You’ll need the following skills to be successful as our Manager of Process and Product Operations :

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, Operations, or a related field.

  • 6+ years of experience in Product Operations, business operations, process improvement, product management, operational excellence, technical program management, or a related discipline.

  • Proven ability to analyze and optimize end‑to‑end product or business processes through process mapping, workflow optimization, root‑cause analysis, and measurable continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrated experience defining operational metrics, building dashboards, establishing reporting frameworks, and supporting governance or decision‑support mechanisms.

  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data, translate insights into action, and communicate findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

  • Solid understanding of Agile and product‑delivery practices, with experience supporting portfolio management, prioritization, capacity planning, and operational governance.

  • Hands‑on experience with workflow automation, operational tools, APIs, AI‑enabled automation, and platforms such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Power BI, ServiceNow, Productboard, or Aha!.

  • Experience influencing cross‑functional teams and leading operational improvements without direct authority, with bonus points for Lean, Six Sigma, value‑stream mapping, or experience in regulated or mission‑critical environments.

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
