Founding Software Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Founding Software Engineer for a cutting-edge aerospace technology startup client. This individual will serve as the technical counterpart to the founder and become the first engineering hire responsible for building a next-generation software platform aimed at dramatically accelerating engineering and manufacturing design workflows. The ideal candidate has deep backend expertise, strong product instincts, and hands-on experience deploying LLM and agentic AI systems into production. This role offers significant ownership, meaningful equity, and the opportunity to shape both the product and engineering culture from the ground up while working directly with aerospace and defense customers solving complex real-world problems.

Skills and Requirements

• Strong backend engineering/architecture experience with production system design and deployment
• Professional experience building and shipping software products end-to-end
• Expertise in Python or equivalent backend technologies
• Experience with LLMs and agentic AI systems in production environments
• Ability to operate independently in ambiguous startup environments
• Experience owning features from concept through deployment and monitoring
• Aerospace, Defense, Medical, or Financial technology experience
• Early-stage startup experience
• Experience building internal AI development tooling
• Prior work on mission-critical software systems
• Exposure to engineering design, manufacturing, or hardware development workflows
