Responsibilities

Prepares adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and equipment for sleep disorders testing. Monitors the polysomnogram and documents per policy.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Arrives to work in a timely manner. Reviews the activity list for the nights duties and patients.

  • Reviews assigned patient charts, greets patients, completes appropriate paperwork and pre-test assessment.

  • Applies recording sensors, acclimatizes patient to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) if applicable, and performs pre-recording calibration.

  • Monitors the recording during the evening per protocol including documentation and interventions as needed.

  • Ends the recording per protocol, completes appropriate post-study documentation, removal of sensors and cleanup as needed.

  • Scores polysomnograms as needed and prepares report for dictation. Assists in training, orientation and competency assessments as needed.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated expertise in sleep disorders, sleep activity, abnormalities, movement arousals, and respirations.

  • One (1) year experience in sleep study activity.

  • Current American Heart Association's Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).

  • Must possess current and unrestricted certification or registration in one of the following: Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)

Work Hours: 7AM-7PM Weekend Requirements: No On-Call Requirements: No
