Description
We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations in Hammond, Indiana. This role will partner with employees and leaders across the organization to strengthen employee relations, coordinate onboarding activities, and maintain accurate personnel data and benefits administration. The ideal candidate brings a practical, service-oriented approach to HR while ensuring compliance, consistency, and a positive employee experience. This position reports to the Human Resources Director. The pay target is $80-$85k plus 401(k) health, life insurance, retirement plan, tuition reimbursement and PTO. Responsibilities:

Serve as a primary HR contact for employees and supervisors, addressing workplace questions, policy interpretation, and employee relations matters.

Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires, including documentation, orientation support, and timely system setup.

Administer employee benefits activities such as enrollments, updates, and responses to routine benefit-related inquiries.

Maintain accurate employee records within HR information systems and ensure data integrity across HR processes.

Support daily HR administration, including personnel documentation, status changes, and compliance-related recordkeeping.

Utilize UKG Pro and UKG Ready to manage employee information, track HR transactions, and produce reports as needed.

Partner with management to support consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.

Assist with HR process improvements and operational updates, including changes to systems or internal workflows when required.
Requirements

Experience in a Human Resources Generalist or similar HR support role.

Working knowledge of employee relations practices and day-to-day HR administration.

Hands-on experience coordinating onboarding activities for new employees.

Familiarity with benefits administration, including enrollments and employee support.

Proficiency with HRIS platforms and maintaining confidential employee records.

Experience using UKG Pro and UKG Ready in a detail-oriented environment.

Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and care.
