Full job description

City/State Norfolk, VA Work Shift First (Days) Overview: Overview

The HR Technology Architect serves as a strategic and techno-functional partner across Human Resources, helping translate HR business needs into thoughtful, scalable technology solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of end-to-end HR business processes combined with deep knowledge of Workday and the broader HR technology ecosystem. The ideal candidate is naturally curious and solution-oriented, with the ability to look beyond the initial request, ask the right “why” questions, understand the underlying business problem, and recommend solutions that support both immediate needs and long-term HR strategy. This individual will partner closely with HR, HR Technology, IT, and other enterprise stakeholders to evaluate business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and architect solutions across the employee lifecycle. The role will help guide solution design, integrations, technology decisions, and architecture standards while ensuring solutions are scalable, sustainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture. Experience successfully designing and delivering HR technology solutions within a healthcare environment is highly valued. Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.

Certification/Licensure

  • Workday certifications or relevant architecture/technology certifications preferred.

Experience

  • 8+ years of relevant experience with a degree or 10+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering technology solutions across end-to-end HR business processes, such as Talent Acquisition, Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Time and Absence, Talent/Performance, and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Strong Workday experience required, with demonstrated ability to understand how Workday capabilities, business processes, integrations, data, security, and downstream systems work together within a broader HR technology ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in a techno-functional capacity, translating HR business challenges and requirements into scalable technical solutions rather than focusing solely on system configuration or development.
  • Experience designing HR technology architecture, integrations, and solutions across multiple systems and partnering with HR, technology, security, data, and other enterprise stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering HR technology solutions in a healthcare organization or similarly complex environment preferred.
