Analyst, Sustainability and Environmental Data
What This Role Delivers
Data is at the center of OPPD's environmental and sustainability work. We're looking for an Analyst, Sustainability and Environmental Data who can turn complex environmental, energy, and resource information into reliable reporting, useful insights, and better business decisions.
This role will have significant ownership of OPPD's environmental and sustainability reporting infrastructure, including the systems, dashboards, processes, and data used to support compliance, risk management, sustainability initiatives, and leadership decision-making.
This is more than a traditional data analyst position. You'll also help manage and evolve a specialized environmental reporting platform, partner across the organization on data quality and technology needs, and help employees effectively use the systems and information behind OPPD's sustainability programs.
What This Role Will Lead & Own
-
Lead and Maintain Sustainability Reporting Infrastructure: Oversee the design, implementation and enhancement of OPPD's Sustainability and Environmental Reporting System (Intelex), ensuring accurate data collection, reporting, and system evolution. Maintain playbooks, toolkits, and procedures to support scalable documentation and reliable practices.
-
Develop Data-Driven Training Programs for Workforce Enablement: Create and scale targeted training initiatives that build employee proficiency in sustainability systems and analytical tools. Promote operational literacy of environmental metrics to integrate sustainable practices into daily routines.
-
Create Strategic Dashboards and Reporting Tools: Build and deliver executive dashboards and monthly performance reports highlighting topics such as energy, water, waste, spending metrics and other business aspects. Leverage data visualization to shape strategic conversations and support top-level alignment with sustainability goals.
-
Conduct Advanced Environmental and Resource Analytics: Perform deep-dive analysis on topics such as energy, water, resource use and other business aspects to identify patterns, benchmark efficiency, and uncover potential improvements. Utilize insights to guide process changes that advance Company goals and objectives around topics such as carbon reduction and environmental performance.
What You Will Bring
- Demonstrated ability to successfully complete the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
What Will Help You Stand Out
The strongest backgrounds may include a combination of:
-
Experience in data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, or data visualization, particularly in environments where data accuracy and governance are critical.
-
Experience with environmental, sustainability, energy, resource conservation, or utility-related data.
-
Experience administering, implementing, or supporting a specialized reporting or data-management platform. Familiarity with Intelex or a similar EHS/environmental reporting system would be particularly valuable.
-
Experience building dashboards, analyzing trends, identifying root causes, and translating complex data into information leaders can use.
-
Familiarity with environmental or sustainability reporting frameworks such as the WRI GHG Protocol, ISS, Sustainalytics, or similar frameworks.
-
Experience analyzing energy, water, waste, carbon, resource-use, or other sustainability performance measures.
-
Experience creating processes, documentation, playbooks, procedures, or training that help others use data and reporting systems consistently.
-
Education or professional experience related to data analytics, engineering, statistics, sustainability, environmental studies, business/data information systems, or another related discipline.
-
Experience in the environmental sector would be valuable, with utility or other regulated-industry experience also helpful.
Direct experience with every item above is not expected. Strong data analytics capability is especially important, with the opportunity to learn OPPD's environmental programs, systems, and processes.
What Makes This Opportunity Different
This position sits at the intersection of data, technology, sustainability, and environmental performance.
You won't simply receive datasets and produce reports. You'll help shape how environmental and sustainability information is collected, governed, analyzed, reported, and used across OPPD. That includes meaningful ownership of the reporting system itself and the opportunity to improve the tools and processes surrounding it.
The role also offers an opportunity to work closely with subject-matter experts across Sustainability & Environmental Affairs, Business Technology, and other areas throughout OPPD.
Salary Information
Salary Grade: S6
Minimum: $109,942
Midpoint: $137,428
