Full job description

Ellis Medicine is seeking per diem Hospitalists to join our collaborative Hospital Medicine team. This is an excellent opportunity for physicians seeking flexible supplemental clinical work, a per diem practice option, or the ability to maintain flexibility while working within a well-supported hospital medicine program.

Our Hospital Medicine model provides physicians with strong APP support, broad specialty resources, a closed ICU and no required procedures.

Position Highlights

  • Flexible per diem opportunity

  • 12-hour shifts: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.; 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

  • Well-established Hospital Medicine program

  • Strong APP and physician support

  • Closed ICU

  • Strong specialty support and hospital leadership

  • No procedures required

Clinical Responsibilities

Per diem Hospitalists will provide comprehensive inpatient medical care, including:

  • Evaluation and management of hospitalized adult patients

  • Daily rounding and development of individualized treatment plans

  • Coordination of care with nursing, APPs, consultants, patients and families

  • Admission and discharge management

  • Responding to Rapid Response events as assigned

  • Participation in multidisciplinary care planning

  • Appropriate consultation and coordination with specialty services

  • Providing high-quality, evidence-based inpatient care

No procedural responsibilities are required, allowing physicians to focus on diagnosis, treatment, care coordination and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

  • Licensed (or eligible) to practice in New York State

  • Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care

  • New graduates are encouraged to apply

Compensation

  • Day shifts: $160/hour

  • Night shifts: $175/hour
