STUDENT INTERN - WELD SHOP

Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

This position is at our Dakota Gasification location in Beulah, ND.

This position is for the summer months of 2027 (approximately May 17, 2027 through August 20, 2027).

This temporary position’s primary job responsibility will be to perform basic welding duties in the company's weld shop area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Print Reading, fabrication and pipe plate welding.

  • Operate weld shop equipment, such as a bandsaw, pipe beveling machine, press brake, and welding positioner.

  • Support the annual Family Night event, including setup, participation, and cleanup, as part of departmental responsibilities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be at least 18 years of age.

  • Be enrolled as a full-time student two-year Welding Technology program with two semesters completed, or recent graduate (within the past 12 months).

  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.

  • Hold a valid driver’s license.

  • Transcript required at time of application. If your transcript is not attached at time of application, your application will not be reviewed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous internship or relevant work experience.

  • Additional certifications or coursework in field of study.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Requires continuous walking; frequent standing, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching above and below shoulder level; and occasional sitting, crawling, lifting 50 pounds from knee to shoulder high, pushing and pulling up to 60 pounds. Requires continuous use of tools and occasional turning of valves and use of foot controls. Requires grip strength of 45 pounds. The majority of the incumbent’s shift is spent indoors. Occasionally requires working at heights from 10 to 100 feet and in high climbing areas on grating, ladders, scaffolding, and other area, which requires the use of safety equipment, including a harness, in accordance with ANSI Z359 standards. Continuously exposed to noise; frequently exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, and extreme heat and cold, and occasionally exposed to vibration, poor ventilation, and confined areas. Incumbent is required to wear dust masks, respirators and full face Scott Air Paks when necessary. May occasionally be required to work rotating shifts. Requires good finger dexterity, good binocular vision, good color vision and hearing, and ability to speak. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must have the ability to perform close accurate work, communicate effectively with others, present information in a clear, concise manner and follow verbal and written instructions.
