Basic Job Functions:

The Melt and Cast Process Engineer is the primary technical resource for EAF/LMF process optimization and steelmaking practices. This position works closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering to improve Melt Shop productivity, energy efficiency, refractory performance, and steel quality through data-driven process improvements and sound metallurgical practices. Additional responsibilities include:

Providing day-to-day technical support for melt shop Electric Arc Furnace and Ladle Metallurgical Furnace operations.

Developing and implementing EAF operating practices, including optimization of power input, burner profiles, oxygen practices, and furnace chemistry

Developing and implementing LMF clean steel practices, including alloy additions and recovery, slag control and desulfurization, argon stirring and inclusion control.

Supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to steelmaking processes.

Monitoring and improving process consistency, steel cleanliness, and product quality.

Partnering with operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to solve technical and production challenges.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline. Minimum of four years of hands-on experience supporting EAF and/or LMF steelmaking operations in a melt shop. Candidates must be able to demonstrate direct involvement in process control, troubleshooting, data analysis, and implementation of operating improvements. Ability to work safely and effectively with operators, maintenance, quality, and engineering Willingness to provide daily floor support, including response to urgent production issues

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
