Full job description

Description We are looking for an experienced Calendar/Docket Clerk to support a high-volume litigation practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can step into a fast-moving legal environment, manage critical deadlines with precision, and provide reliable docketing support to a large team of legal professionals. The role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with attorneys and staff across multiple matters.

Responsibilities: • Manage litigation calendars and docket entries for assigned attorneys, practice groups, or office locations, ensuring deadlines are accurately captured and maintained. • Examine court filings, agency documents, and related case materials to identify relevant dates, required actions, and procedural obligations. • Monitor court and agency dockets on an ongoing basis and update records promptly when new activity or schedule changes occur. • Confirm venue, jurisdiction, and applicable procedural rules before entering deadlines to maintain accuracy across all matters. • Check the validity of calculated deadlines and assigned matter information, including responsible timekeepers, to support reliable case tracking. • Prepare and circulate docket and matter status reports that help legal teams stay informed of upcoming deadlines and case activity. • Research court, agency, statutory, and judge-specific rules and apply that guidance when responding to calendaring and procedural questions. • Partner with docket leadership and team members to strengthen workflow practices, support process improvements, and contribute to special projects as needed.

The pay range for this position is 25 to 32. Benefits available to contract/contract professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.   • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and begin contributing with minimal ramp-up time.

  • Experience supporting multiple attorneys or legal professionals simultaneously while maintaining strong accuracy and organization.

  • Proficiency in reviewing legal documents and recognizing filing deadlines, court dates, and procedural requirements.

  • CompuLaw experience is strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, court rules, and agency requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to respond professionally to attorneys and staff.

  • High attention to detail and solid research skills for interpreting rules, practices, and deadline-related requirements.
