Full job description

Description About Every Electric Every Electric brings distributed energy storage into people's homes to build a cleaner, more accessible and affordable grid. We operate New York City's largest A/C powerbank virtual power plant in partnership with Con Edison. Our mission is to build an electric everyday that elevates everyone.

About the role Every Electric is preparing for its next stage of growth. We have deployed thousands of powerbanks across New York City, and we aim to grow our customer base here 5–10x in 2027 and bring our model to new markets. You will be accountable for our end-to-end physical operations: getting powerbanks into homes, tracking every unit, and bringing each one back for refurbishment or recycling. This is initially a hands-on individual contributor role, with responsibility for building and running the operations function. Working closely with the co-founders, you will set the operating strategy and carry it out yourself, whether that means redesigning a workflow, building a tool, or resolving an issue on the ground with a warehouse partner. As we grow into new markets, you will design the launch playbook.

Responsibilities

  • Operating strategy: Assess current operations, redesign workflows for growth, and turn company goals into capacity plans and repeatable processes.
  • Fulfillment and deployment: Own the flow from order creation through delivery and deployment across manufacturer warehouses, parcel carriers and local delivery partners, including the exceptions that come with moving dense powerbanks into walk-up apartments.
  • Inventory and asset lifecycle: Keep serial-level records accurate across shipment, deployment, returns, refurbishment and recycling, and improve reverse logistics with our manufacturers.
  • Warehousing and compliance: Run and improve our warehouse operations and safe handling. Own lithium-ion shipping, storage and fire-code compliance, learning the requirements and bringing in outside expertise only where needed.
  • Operations tooling: Build and own the internal tools, data integrations and dashboards that run fulfillment and inventory, using AI-assisted development. For changes to our core platform, define clear requirements for engineering and test that the result works in practice.
  • Unit economics and partners: Measure and drive down cost per unit delivered, returned and refurbished, along with on-time and failure rates. Select logistics partners, negotiate terms and hold them accountable.
  • Market launches: Design and launch the operating model for new markets, including logistics partners, local inventory, staffing and on-the-ground procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience: Typically 5+ years in operations or strategy and operations, including direct ownership of a physical operation rather than analysis of one.
  • Building tooling: Demonstrated ability to build automation, internal tools or dashboards. Evidence you have built something people use matters more than credentials.
  • Systems fluency: Comfort with SQL, APIs and databases, enough to integrate third-party services and answer your own questions without waiting on engineering.
  • Startup execution: Experience in a startup or similarly lean team, comfortable moving between planning and daily execution.
  • Vendor management: Experience selecting, negotiating with and holding accountable logistics, delivery or fulfillment partners.
  • AI-assisted development: Proficiency with modern AI tools and the judgment to validate their output.
  • Domain interest: Interest in energy and decarbonization, and willingness to work hands-on in Brooklyn.

Preferred qualifications

  • Launching operations in a new city or region, including site selection and third-party logistics.
  • Lithium-ion shipping, hazmat classification or fire-code compliance for battery storage.
  • Last-mile delivery, field operations or reverse logistics at consumer scale.
  • Early-stage hardware or consumer-electronics experience. Energy experience is welcome but not required.

Compensation Base salary of $150,000–$180,000, commensurate with experience, plus equity, with medical, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan and a flexible leave policy. Every Electric is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate all candidates on the basis of merit and job-related qualifications.
