Join a team that combines deep technical expertise, customer trust, and hands-on execution to help public-sector customers modernize their technology estates, unlock the value of their data, and adopt AI responsibly. As a Azure Solution Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of Azure Solution Engineers who act as trusted technical advisors to customers across the U.S. State, Local Government and Education market. You will coach the team to understand customer priorities, shape secure and scalable architectures, and demonstrate how Microsoft Cloud and AI solutions can produce measurable outcomes.Your team will lead technical discovery and deliver architecture sessions, customized demonstrations, technical workshops, rapid prototypes, proofs of concept, and hands-on-keyboard engagements. You will help Solution Engineers win customer technical decisions, accelerate opportunities from uncommitted to committed, and establish a strong transition to Customer Success, partners, and delivery teams.This opportunity will allow you to develop and lead outstanding technical talent, strengthen your business and technical leadership, and build trusted relationships with customer and Microsoft leaders. You will lead from the front, using your technical fluency and business judgment to coach the team, remove barriers, improve execution, and accelerate Azure and AI growth. Responsibilities . Lead, coach, and develop your people:

  • Recruit, develop, and retain a diverse, high-performing team of Solution Engineers. Establish a consistent Model, Coach, and Care rhythm, conduct meaningful one-on-ones, provide actionable feedback through Connects and Perspectives, and create an inclusive environment where team members can grow and perform at their best.

Win customer technical decisions:

  • Coach Solution Engineers to own technical discovery, architecture, solution envisioning, customized demonstrations, whiteboarding, technical workshops, rapid prototyping, and hands-on-keyboard proofs of concept or pilots. Ensure engagements establish clear technical success criteria, address risks, and earn the commitment of customer technical decision makers.

Drive Azure and AI growth:

  • Partner with Specialist, Account, Customer Success, Partner, and engineering teams to develop technical strategies that grow pipeline, accelerate Azure Consumed Revenue, expand customer workloads, and move qualified opportunities from uncommitted to committed.

Build cross-solution technical excellence:

  • Foster a continuous-learning culture and maintain broad proficiency across Azure infrastructure, applications, data, databases, analytics, and AI. Coach Solution Engineers to develop deep technical expertise in their respective domains while collaborating through the SE pod to deliver cohesive customer solutions.

Apply disciplined sales execution:

  • Drive accurate and timely milestone engagement, Technical Close Plans, forecast visibility, CRM hygiene, documented technical activities, and clear identification of risks and blockers. Use data and inspection rhythms to improve pipeline velocity and execution quality.

Lead through AI and Copilot:

  • Model effective use of Microsoft Copilot and AI tools to improve customer preparation, technical discovery, solution development, team productivity, and sales-cycle execution. Help the team translate emerging AI capabilities into secure, responsible, and practical customer outcomes.

Build executive and ecosystem partnerships:

  • Establish trusted relationships with customer leaders and technical decision makers. Work across Microsoft and the partner ecosystem to remove barriers, address capacity and architecture dependencies, and ensure technical wins transition effectively into deployment, adoption, and consumption.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or related field AND 4+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 6+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
  • OR 7+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

  • Microsoft is unable to sponsor a work visa for this role due to the nature of the role's job duties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years technical pre-sales, technical consulting, or technology delivery, or related experience • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years experience with cloud and hybrid, or on premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management.

  • 3+ years people management experience (including leading virtual teams).

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, strategic cloud opportunities and influencing customer executives and technical decision makers.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure or another public-cloud platform, including infrastructure, application modernization, data, databases, analytics, and AI, along with an understanding of AWS and Google Cloud competitive solutions.

Solution Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
