Job Summary:
Performs systems and cloud administration tasks independently in production environments, managing servers, virtual infrastructure, cloud platforms, and related services. Ensures system availability, security, performance, and reliability across on-premises and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities

Administer Windows, Linux, and Unix servers across production and non-production environments.
-
Manage cloud platform resources, virtual infrastructure, and network services configuration.

Execute patching, hardening, backup, and disaster recovery procedures.

Monitor system performance and availability; remediate incidents to resolution.

Develop scripting and automation to reduce manual administrative effort.

Maintain configuration documentation and support audit and compliance activities.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related technical field; OR an Associate's degree plus two (2) additional years of relevant experience.

Minimum Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of systems administration and/or cloud administration experience in production environments.

Certifications — Required: One current platform or security certification: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate, Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), CompTIA Server+, or CompTIA Security+.

Certifications — Obtainable After Hire: A second certification covering the complementary environment (cloud or operating system), within 120 days of assignment.

Certifications — Preferred: CISSP; Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA); ITIL 4 Foundation; VMware Certified Professional.

Required Skills: Systems administration (Windows, Linux, Unix); cloud platform management (AWS, Azure, GCP); virtualization; network services configuration; security administration; backup and recovery; performance monitoring; scripting and automation.

Preferred Skills: Configuration management tools; containerization; federal government IT environment experience; ITIL framework knowledge; multi-cloud experience.
Technical Environment
Windows Server 2019/2022 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Ubuntu; VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V; AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch) and Azure (Virtual Machines, Entra ID, Monitor); PowerShell, Bash, and Python automation; Ansible configuration management; Docker; Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP; Veeam or Commvault backup; SolarWinds, Nagios, or Datadog monitoring; patch management via WSUS, SCCM, or Red Hat Satellite.
