Full job description
If you’re looking for a special place to build or grow your career, you’ve found it. Whether you’re an experienced professional, a recent college graduate or somewhere in between, IDEX is a place where you can apply your existing skills and learn new ones in an environment where you can make an impact.
With interesting opportunities in engineering, marketing, sales, supply chain, operations, HR, finance, and more across more than 40 diverse businesses (https://www.idexcorp.com/our-businesses/business-segments/) around the globe, chances are, we have something special for you.
The role: Build the US Valve Data Center Cooling business into a scalable growth business and own the results. Leverage products, technologies, and capabilities from across IDEX to deliver complete customer solutions through US Valve.
Why it matters: Data Center Cooling is a primary growth priority across IDEX Performance Pneumatics. Capturing the opportunity takes one accountable leader who links customer needs to the right products, capabilities, leaders, and relationships across IDEX.
What you will own:
-
Annual Operating Plan. Develop and own the Annual Operating Plan for the Data Center Cooling business, including strategy, forecast, revenue, gross margin, pricing, and resource allocation. Following approval, lead execution and deliver results against the plan.
-
Growth. Across the US Valve portfolio and connected growth across IDEX — strengthening customer relationships and relentlessly pursuing opportunities.
-
The Global Commercial team. Lead it and scale it — clarify priorities, re-align resources, and add talent as the opportunity grows.
-
Capacity to scale. The structure, accountability, and execution the business needs to grow.
What success takes:
-
Influence. Create alignment and momentum across sites, businesses, functions, and customers — without relying on direct authority. Partner with functional leaders for execution resources and standards.
-
Followership. Inspire confidence and lead people through challenging decisions, setbacks, and rapid growth.
What success looks like:
-
Deliver the plan. Meet or exceed the commitments in the approved Annual Operating Plan while balancing growth, margin, cash, and customer needs.
-
Build a business that continues to scale. Put the team, operating rhythm, and accountability in place to sustain growth and scale Data Center Cooling as a primary growth priority across IDEX Performance Pneumatics.
-
Win with customers. Deepen relationships with priority customers, convert a visible opportunity pipeline, and turn unmet needs into growth.
-
Connect IDEX so IDEX wins. Align products, capabilities, and leaders across IDEX to deliver differentiated solutions through US Valve and create shared growth.
-
Deliver consistently. Partner with functional leaders to remove barriers early and consistently meet on-time delivery, quality, and execution commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Grow the Business: Own growth, revenue, and gross margin for Data Center Cooling and the US Valve portfolio — with existing and new customers.
-
Set priorities across customers, applications, and resources using market mapping, competitive intelligence, and 80/20.
-
Keep a visible pipeline with actions, owners, and barriers.
-
Drive the NPD funnel and roadmap with Product Management and Engineering, who own the roadmap, lifecycle, and milestones.
-
Pursue opportunities relentlessly and sustain momentum through difficult periods.
Drive Connected Growth: Connect customer needs with products and capabilities across IDEX.
-
Build relationships with IDEX leaders, product managers, and sales teams.
-
Pull through broader IDEX products and align businesses around shared opportunities.
-
Work through competing priorities and organizational boundaries without losing momentum.
Lead Customer Engagement: Be the senior business partner and escalation point for priority customers — up and including the C-suite.
-
Strengthen relationships across priority customer organizations, building on the Commercial team's foundation.
-
Set up a repeatable way to collect and share voice of customer.
-
Turn unmet needs and application gaps into growth, resource, and execution priorities.
Build the Team and Execution Discipline: Lead and scale the Commercial team and Program Management — and drive results through a cross-functional team
-
Align people with the highest-priority opportunities; clarify roles and add commercial, program, and project capacity as needed.
-
Partner with functional leaders to set initial project priorities and turn them into clear actions, owners, and follow-through.
-
Set clear direction and lead complex decisions and conversations directly.
-
Scale without losing urgency, customer focus, or accountability.
Own Business and Financial Performance: Develop the Annual Operating Plan for the Data Center Cooling business and, once approved, own execution against that plan.
-
Owns: development and delivery of the approved Annual Operating Plan.
-
Decides: pricing, resource allocation, growth priorities, and commercial investment within the approved plan and budget.
-
Recommends: capital, M&A, partnerships, and anything outside the plan to the GM and platform leadership.
-
Run a regular business review; keep forecast discipline and separate sustaining work from incremental growth.
-
Balance growth, margin, cash, customer commitments, and long-term capability.
Own Performance and Fix Problems at the Root: You own customer and business performance. When something is not working, raise your hand early — across the leadership team.
-
Track quality, delivery, and lead-time performance; call out problems before customers feel them.
-
Decide what problems to solve, ask for help when needed, and launch kaizens with cross-functional leaders.
-
Require fact-based root cause, countermeasures, and clear owners for missed commitments and recurring issues.
-
Improve the system, not assign blame. Formal Lean expertise is not required.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, marketing, or a related field.
-
10+ years of international commercial, business development, product management, or general management experience in complex B2B.
-
5+ years leading and developing sales, commercial, or cross-functional teams.
-
Experience owning an annual operating plan, forecast, pricing, and gross margin.
-
Willingness to travel globally to customers, suppliers and partner businesses.
Preferred Qualifications
-
MBA or other relevant advanced degree.
-
Direct P&L or business-line accountability.
-
Experience in data center cooling, fluid handling, valves, thermal management, or related engineered products.
-
Experience building a business line, entering adjacent markets, or scaling a high-growth platform.
-
Experience connecting capabilities across a multi-business or matrixed organization to create shared customer solutions.
-
Working knowledge of program management and the operating rhythms that turn opportunities into results.
