Full job description

Description

We are looking for a Sr. Accountant to join a fully-on-site team in Jacksonville, Florida on a contract-to-permanent basis. This position begins with significant ownership of accounts payable and month-end close activities, with the opportunity to expand into broader accounting support across the business. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, advanced Excel capability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities:

  • Presence in our Jacksonville, Florida Based offices while working fully on-site

•Oversee daily accounts payable operations by reviewing invoices, coordinating payment processing, reconciling vendor balances, and addressing billing issues promptly.

  • Contribute to the monthly close by preparing journal entries, recording accruals, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and maintaining supporting documentation.

  • Handle payroll-related accounting tasks, including account analysis and reconciliation tied to payroll activity.

  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and assist with the preparation of internal financial reports and related schedules.

  • Research account variances and resolve discrepancies to support complete and reliable accounting records.

  • Create detailed reports and financial analyses for the Controller and broader finance team as needed.

  • Provide assistance with accounts receivable activities, year-end close requirements, project closeout accounting, and audit support requests.

  • Recommend and support improvements to accounting procedures, internal controls, and overall process efficiency.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve invoicing, payment, and accounting questions affecting daily operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to work from Jacksonville, Florida Based offices and fully on-site

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.

  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience with direct involvement in accounts payable and month-end closing responsibilities.

  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to use PivotTables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, and formulas for analysis and reconciliation work.

  • Hands-on experience with journal entries, accrual accounting, account reconciliations, general ledger activity, and financial reporting.

  • Familiarity with payroll accounting and reconciliation processes; experience with ADP is preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and QuickBooks in an accounting environment that requires strong attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; English and Spanish language ability, Salesforce exposure, or experience with expense reporting tools is a plus.
