Associate Director for Enrollment Services (Enrollment Manager) - NEST

POSITION DETAILS

Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens , LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. More than one-third of LaGuardia’s degree-seeking students are born outside the United States; they come from 136 countries and speak 43 heritage languages. Sixty percent are first-generation college students.

Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (89 percent), 58 percent are women, 27 percent are over the age of 25. Forty-six percent of associate degree students are Hispanic. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Graduates of career programs such as Nursing, Computer Technology, and Veterinary Technology enter the workforce. LaGuardia ranked fifth among U.S. community colleges in economic mobility – moving low-income students into the middle class and beyond – in studies by Stanford University (2017) and the Brookings Institution (2020). Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Services, the Associate Director of Enrollment Services plays a critical role in implementing a comprehensive, data-informed enrollment service strategy designed to increase student engagement, strengthen self-advocacy, and support students in navigating enrollment processes. The Associate Director collaborates with campus partners to design and implement service interventions that promote persistence and support student success in areas such as financial aid services, outreach to full­time freshman cohorts, and graduation pathway navigation.

This position requires a strong understanding of integrated One-Stop student service operations and a demonstrated commitment to supporting first-generation and low-income students through strategies that increase retention, FAFSA completion, and adult learner success. The Enrollment manager will, in addition to the CUNY Title Overview, perform the following:

  • Manages service delivery strategies across the Registration Lab, FAFSA Lab, and walk-in One­Stop student service and phone operations;

  • Coordinates communication initiatives and service interventions to increase FAFSA filing and financial aid completion through targeted outreach strategies and staff training;

  • Develops and maintains service engagement data and outreach response tracking to connect students with appropriate enrollment resources and services;

  • Manages NEST service operations in accordance with university policies and procedures;

  • Supervises staff providing front-line enrollment services across multiple service points, including service labs, the main office, call center operations, outreach initiatives, and student intervention efforts;

  • Serves as a point of contact for campus stakeholders and supports cross-functional programmatic initiatives;

  • Contributes to the development of innovative service delivery models that incorporate measurable outcomes and continuous improvement practices;

  • Maintains expertise in enrollment and advising technologies such as Slate CRM and EAB Navigate and remains current on emerging practices in enrollment services and student support technologies;

  • Manage FAFSA and Registration Labs - One Stop Service Model;

  • Coordinates front-line operations to support a seamless student service experience;

  • Manage professional and clerical staff supporting Enrollment Services operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in Higher Education Administration, Data Analytics, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in outreach, registration, or retention programming.

  • Proven record of innovation in service delivery.

  • Deep knowledge of registration and enrollment systems, and best practices for student engagement.

  • Familiarity with financial aid and registrar policies, procedures, and high impact practices (HIP).

  • Experience with advancing projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders.

  • Available to work some evenings and weekends.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

  • Oversees daily office activities and staff development to ensure efficient and effective enrollment operations

  • Assists senior management in developing plans, implementing initiatives and assessing performance

  • Recommends and implements improvements to schedules, policies and procedures to advance unit effectiveness

  • Serves as resource expert on enrollment practices to resolve complex student issues, and assists students with special circumstances in receiving support

  • Plans and executes workshops, orientation sessions, and events to acquaint students with enrollment processes

  • Reviews and approves content for print and on-line enrollment materials

  • Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management

  • May manage professional and/or clerical staff as well as department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
