Hiring for Maintenance Technicians Night Shift pays up to $32/hr.
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician supports reliable plant operations by performing preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery during the night shift. This role diagnoses mechanical and electrical issues, maintains critical parts inventories, and ensures that all work areas and equipment remain safe, clean, and well organized. The technician follows technical documentation, adheres to strict safety practices, and collaborates closely with other team members to minimize downtime and maintain consistent production quality.
Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance on production machines in accordance with established schedules, diagrams, operations manuals, and manufacturer instructions.

Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical malfunctions by observing equipment in operation, listening for irregularities, and using appropriate measuring and testing instruments.

Locate sources of equipment problems and determine effective corrective actions to restore machines to proper operating condition.

Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by monitoring stock levels, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of materials.

Keep all shop areas, engine rooms, and workspaces clean, safe, and orderly to support efficient and safe operations.

Complete all assigned work orders accurately and within required timeframes, documenting work performed and parts used.

Assist in updating and improving Process Safety Management (PSM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs.

Stay current with maintenance best practices and technologies by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and building professional networks.

Maintain continuity among work teams by clearly documenting actions taken, noting irregularities, and communicating ongoing maintenance needs to the next shift.

Adhere to all safety guidelines and consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Maintain tools and equipment in good working order, storing them properly after use.

Conduct daily rounds of assigned areas, identify potential hazards, and promptly report any safety concerns to management.

Support general building and facility maintenance, including tasks related to welding, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, ammonia refrigeration, and other systems as needed.
Essential Skills
-
13 years of experience in maintenance, mechanical, or related technical roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

High school diploma or GED.
-
Vocational or technical school training in a relevant field.
-
Hands-on experience performing preventative maintenance on production machinery.
-
Ability to follow diagrams, operations manuals, and manufacturer instructions to perform maintenance and repairs.
-
Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems, including the ability to observe machines in operation and listen for problems.
-
Proficiency using measuring and testing instruments to locate sources of equipment issues.
-
Experience working with welding, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, ammonia refrigeration, and building maintenance tasks.
-
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently.
-
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and interact with coworkers in a respectful and professional manner.

Eligibility and ability to obtain forklift certification through the company.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in the meat processing industry is preferred but not required.

Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs.

Strong organizational skills to manage parts and supplies inventories effectively.

Willingness to participate in ongoing training, workshops, and technical education to maintain and expand technical knowledge.

Comfort working with raw beef, chicken, fish, lamb, or similar raw materials and associated odors.

Reliability and flexibility to work extended shifts and overtime as needed, including up to 6 days per week.

Work Environment
This is a night shift position working from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with two openings available. The work takes place in a food production facility where temperatures can be extremely cold at times and may change frequently. Conditions are often wet, with frequent noise and occasional vibration, and there are frequent exposure to typical industrial hazards. The role requires working around and with raw beef, chicken, fish, lamb, and similar raw materials, including associated odors. Team members must be able to work extended shifts and overtime as needed, up to six days per week. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required inside the plant, including steel-toe footwear, hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, and rain gear, which must be worn as directed to ensure a safe working environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $67000.00 - $67000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
