Job Title: Head Golf Coach
Department: Athletics

Montana Tech Athletics is seeking a Head Golf Coach to lead its men’s and women’s golf programs.
The Head Coach will focus primarily on what matters most to the success of the program: coaching, instruction, recruiting, and student-athlete development. Responsibilities include planning and conducting practices, providing individual and team instruction, coaching during competition, recruiting prospective student-athletes, and building a positive and competitive team culture.
The Montana Tech Athletic Department will provide support for many of the program’s administrative and operational responsibilities, including eligibility and compliance, travel planning and arrangements, and other team logistics, allowing the Head Coach to focus on coaching and developing student-athletes.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong knowledge of golf, the ability to teach and develop players, and a commitment to building positive relationships with student-athletes. Previous coaching or instructional experience is preferred, but candidates with a strong golf background and the ability to lead, teach, recruit, and connect with student-athletes are encouraged to apply.

Duties:
The Head Golf Coach is responsible for the leadership and operation of Montana Tech’s men’s and women’s golf programs, with primary emphasis on student-athlete instruction, coaching, development, and recruitment. Duties include planning and conducting practices, providing technical and strategic instruction, coaching during competition, evaluating and recruiting prospective student-athletes, and fostering a positive team culture consistent with Montana Tech Athletics and NAIA expectations.
The position will work collaboratively with the Athletic Department, which will provide support for many administrative functions, including student-athlete eligibility and compliance, travel planning and arrangements, scheduling logistics, purchasing, and other operational responsibilities. This structure is intended to allow the Head Coach to focus primarily on coaching, recruiting, student-athlete development, and competitive success.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of the game of golf, including fundamentals, technique, strategy, and player development.
Experience coaching, teaching, instructing, or developing golfers.
Ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and mentor student-athletes.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, prospective student-athletes and their families, campus partners, alumni, and supporters.
Commitment to student-athlete academic success, personal development, sportsmanship, and well-being.
Ability to lead and foster a positive, accountable, and competitive team culture.
Ability and willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as required for practices, competitions, and recruiting.
Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one as required for team travel.
Commitment to complying with Montana Tech, Frontier Conference, and NAIA rules, policies, and expectations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience coaching or instructing golf and demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and build positive relationships with student-athletes.
