Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key accounting operations for a Contract position based in Savannah, Georgia. This role is ideal for someone who can manage core financial close activities, maintain accurate ledger records, and ensure reconciliations are completed on time. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise and a disciplined approach to financial reporting and balance sheet integrity.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly close activities by preparing schedules, reviewing financial data, and helping ensure reporting deadlines are met.

• Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger through detailed review, analysis, and correction of account activity when needed.

• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support and alignment to accounting policies and reporting standards.

• Perform account reconciliations regularly to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and support clean financial records.

• Complete bank reconciliations by comparing cash activity to internal records and investigating variances promptly.

• Analyze financial balances and transactions to improve accuracy and strengthen the reliability of period-end reporting.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather supporting documentation and clarify accounting treatment for unusual items. Requirements • Proven experience working in a senior-level accounting role with ownership of core accounting processes.

• Strong background in month-end close procedures within a detail-oriented accounting environment.

• Hands-on experience managing general ledger activity and preparing journal entries accurately.

• Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliations and resolve outstanding variances efficiently.

• Experience completing bank reconciliations with a high degree of attention to detail.

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting best practices.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills in deadline-driven settings.
