This role is responsible for guiding quality technicians and auditors, maintaining strong compliance practices, and supporting product integrity across raw materials, packaging, and finished goods. The ideal candidate brings hands-on food or pet food manufacturing quality experience, strong knowledge of GMP and food safety requirements, and a practical approach to resolving quality issues and improving processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support quality technicians and auditors by setting clear expectations, coaching daily performance, and conducting evaluations that reinforce accountability and development.

  • Examine batch documentation and related manufacturing records to confirm required process steps, inspections, testing activities, sampling, and sanitation tasks have been completed accurately and in compliance with established standards.

  • Monitor incoming materials, packaging items, labels, and completed products through audits and inspections to verify adherence to specifications and regulatory requirements.

  • Track compliance with plant quality and food safety programs, including good manufacturing practices, hygiene standards, allergen controls, sanitation procedures, pest management, calibration activities, and certification requirements.

  • Coordinate the review of test results for raw materials, packaging components, and finished goods, and help manage material disposition decisions such as release, hold, or further evaluation.

  • Administer the hold and rejection process by maintaining product status controls and supporting the release or disposal of nonconforming materials.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to investigate quality concerns, including customer complaints, identify root causes, and help implement effective corrective actions.

  • Recommend practical improvements to quality systems, procedures, and workflow efficiency, and present solutions to quality and compliance leadership.

  • Support internal, regulatory, third-party, and customer audits by preparing documentation, participating during inspections, and assisting with corrective action responses.

  • Contribute to department communication and operational alignment by participating in meetings and carrying out additional quality-related assignments as needed. Requirements • Pet food manufacturing experience is required.

  • At least four years of experience working in a manufacturing quality role is required.

  • Strong working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety expectations in a regulated production environment.

  • Understanding of quality testing methods used in the food or beverage industry, including analytical evaluation principles.

  • Experience reviewing production documentation and applying quality standards to support compliance and traceability.

  • Ability to investigate quality issues, collaborate across departments, and drive timely resolution of nonconformances.

  • Supervisory or team leadership capability with experience training, mentoring, and holding employees accountable.

  • Familiarity with environmental safety practices within a manufacturing setting.
