Job Title: Pharmacy Technician IIIJob Description

The Pharmacy Technician III position supports pharmacists by completing duties related to drug therapy orders, prescription management, and pharmacy records. The role involves collaborating with Leads and Supervisors for daily activities, issue resolution, and project tasks. As a subject matter expert in pharmacy operations, you will help ensure smooth operations and high-quality service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with pharmacy practices in line with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as HIPAA guidelines and corporate policies.

  • Accurately interpret and enter healthcare providers' prescription orders into the pharmacy system.

  • Notify physicians of incomplete or incorrect prescription information and perform physician outreach when necessary.

  • Obtain accurate verbal orders for product replacement and missing prescription information.

  • Manage patient adherence processes and schedule medication deliveries as per guidelines.

  • Support patients with treatment compliance by updating medications, allergies, and medical conditions.

  • Use internal and web tools to communicate with health insurance payors and providers for benefit verification.

  • Identify process/system improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure accurate service provision to patients.

  • Handle inbound/outbound calls, prioritize work, and perform testing as needed by business requirements.

  • Check pharmacist voicemail and undertake additional responsibilities as necessary.

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Meet applicable Pharmacy Technician Licensure requirements by the first day of employment.

  • Maintain Illinois Certified Pharmacy Technician licensure and CE requirements.

  • 3-5 years of experience in a healthcare setting with familiarity in medical record handling, prescription data entry, and customer service.

  • Strong attention to detail and high-quality decision-making ability.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Ability to manage individual tasks and work collaboratively across functions.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Flexible work schedule availability, with the ability to work between 7am and 7pm.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in retail pharmacy is beneficial but not required.

  • Experience in data entry and customer service is advantageous.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a professional corporate campus with amenities such as an on-site fitness center and cafeteria. The role offers stability and career development in a growing organization that values its employees. You will work Monday to Friday, typically in 8-hour shifts between 7am and 7pm, with the possibility of overtime based on workload. The position offers cross-training in both pharmacy technician and fulfillment technician duties, and you must be open to placement in either area.

This is a Contract position based out of Waukegan, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.05 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
