Full job description

Production Supervisor | Nox Metals | Detroit, MI

About Nox Metals. American factories deserve a supply chain that moves as fast as they do. Nox Metals is building it, along with the tools that run it. We’re a technology company in Metro Detroit supplying aluminum plate, bar, and rounds to aerospace and defense manufacturers. We use software and automation to supply metal to American factories faster than the industry thought possible.

The role. We're hiring Production Supervisors to run our floors in Detroit. Every order Nox ships starts on the floor, and you will own your shift: safety, quality, and output. You set the pace, assign the work, and train the people who run our saws. When a machine goes down or a job runs late, you are the first call and you fix it. Part of your shift is leading: coaching your team, enforcing the standard, and passing a clean handoff to the next lead. The other part is hands on: you run the equipment and know every job on the floor. You start by learning every station in the building, and you report to the General Manager. If you've led a crew in a factory, a metals service center, or a skilled trade, this is your next step.

Shift hours: Weekdays, First Shift: Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Weekdays, Second Shift: Monday through Thursday, 5:30 PM to 4:00 AM Weekends, First Shift: Friday through Sunday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Weekends, Second Shift: Friday through Sunday, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

You will:

  • Lead your shift team, set the pace, and own the outcome for safety, quality, and output
  • Assign work, set priorities, and keep the shift on the production schedule
  • Train and coach team members on equipment, safety, and our software
  • Enforce safety rules and PPE, stop unsafe work, and report incidents and near misses
  • Run a clean handoff, pass open jobs and issues to the next shift lead
  • Operate saws, CNC, and handling equipment to cut and inspect aluminum to spec
  • Run forklifts and overhead cranes, we’ll train and certify you
  • Record cut data and job completions in our software systems, accurately, every time
  • Complete other tasks as assigned

You are:

  • A natural leader, people follow you because of how you work, not because of a title
  • A clear communicator, comfortable giving direction and holding people accountable
  • Knowledgeable or experienced in a factory, metals center, or with skilled trades
  • Committed to safety
  • Attentive with regards to quality, every cut, every cert, every shipment
  • Always thinking about how to make processes better
  • Customer obsessed
  • Someone who takes ownership, if it is your shift, it is your responsibility
  • Self-directed, you can run the floor with a smaller team and keep production moving
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs., operate heavy equipment and be on your feet for a full shift with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Not afraid to work outside normal hours when America demands it

Nice to have:

  • Prior shift lead or supervisory experience in manufacturing
  • Experience in metals, aluminum, or aerospace/defense supply chains
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane certification
  • Comfortable using AI tools to work faster and smarter

Benefits:

  • Equity in Nox Metals
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance

This role is full time, in person in Detroit.
