Job Summary

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within Consumer & Community Banking Technology, you drive meaningful outcomes by building and evolving secure, scalable platforms and services. You apply deep technical expertise and leadership to solve complex engineering problems, accelerate cloud adoption, and raise the quality bar through strong design and engineering practices.

Job responsibilities

  • Design and implement cloud-native software solutions using modern technology stacks to deliver highly available, performant, and resilient products

  • Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others to improve reliability and maintainability

  • Drive decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and operational processes across the engineering lifecycle

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in one or more focus areas (for example: public cloud engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure as code)

  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge-sharing sessions to strengthen team capabilities and delivery consistency

  • Influence peers and project stakeholders to adopt leading engineering practices and technologies that improve measurable outcomes

  • Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (for example: AI-assisted code review and refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, and incident root-cause analysis), while establishing measurable validation standards and promoting reuse

  • Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience and 2+ years of experience leading engineers to plan, deliver, and resolve complex technical items within your domain of expertise

  • Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and production operations for distributed services

  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, or TypeScript

  • Experience migrating complex applications to the public cloud (IaC developer, SRE and Acceleration roles)

  • Experience delivering in an Agile environment using practices such as continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/DC), and Scrum

  • Strong understanding of software design principles and patterns, with experience implementing modular monolith and microservices architectures

  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (for example: coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security

  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching senior engineers and leads on compliant usage patterns and controls

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Experience designing and maintaining API-based and event-driven architectures

  • Advanced experience building and operating cloud-native solutions on Amazon Web Services

  • Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code patterns (including modules, policies, and environment promotion)

  • Experience with modern front-end development using React

  • Experience defining observability standards (metrics, logs, traces) and operational readiness practices for production services
