Job Description:

Orthopaedic Surgery Trauma Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP)

Trauma Focused Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider | Lahey Clinic | Burlington, MA

Want to do a little of everything in orthopedics? This role is built for someone who enjoys variety. You will work across the ED, the OR and the inpatient floor and clinic as part of a nationally recognized 345-bed tertiary care hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center.

About Us

  • Nationally recognized hospital just north of Boston, MA.

  • Busy orthopedic service: trauma, arthroplasty, sports, hand, foot and ankle, and podiatry.

  • Collaborative, resident-supported team. Epic EMR. APP-friendly.

The Role

  • Weekday anchored position consisting of 10 hour days, 4 days per week.

  • Evaluate and manage trauma and orthopedic consults in the emergency department, inpatient units, and ICU settings.

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and coordinate care with the orthopedic attendings.

  • Perform closed reductions of fractures and dislocations, including application of splints, casts, and immobilization devices.

  • OR first assistant duties for orthopedic trauma and general orthopedic cases.

  • Evaluate and manage patients in the outpatient orthopedic clinic.

  • Perform bedside procedures including wound management, incision and drainage, joint aspirations, dressing changes, and removal of sutures and staples.

  • Provide patient and family education regarding injuries, treatment plans, rehabilitation, and recovery expectations.

  • Complete timely documentation, discharge planning, and coordination of multidisciplinary patient care.

What we offer

  • A real orthopedic career growth pathway into ED consults and procedures (reductions, casting, laceration repair), OR first-assist, and clinic.

  • Hands-on mentorship and teaching from our Trauma surgeons and experienced APs and residents.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program (AGACNP).

  • MA licensure or license-eligible. Current BLS.

  • What matters: you want to learn, you want a job that is different day to day and you want to be part of a team. Orthopedic experience is a real plus, but not a requirement. New grads and career changers are welcome too.
