Job Description
Stanford's Graduate School of Business (GSB) has built a global reputation based on its immersive and innovative management programs. We provide students a transformative leadership experience, pushing the boundaries of knowledge with faculty research, and offering a portfolio of entrepreneurial and non-degree programs that deliver global impact. We invite you to be part of our mission of developing innovative, principled, and insightful leaders who change lives, change organizations, and change the world.
Success at the GSB is defined by The GSB Way - a commitment to shared purpose, community, and excellence in all that we do. We seek individuals who elevate themselves and those around them through the practice of academic candor, generous collaboration, and bringing curiosity and rigor to solving meaningful problems. At the GSB, impact means taking ownership, and contributing to a purpose-driven, collaborative, and high-performing community in service to the institution’s mission.
Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks a Data and Technology Specialist (DTS). The DTS will leverage technology, including enterprise-level LLMs, to scale the GSB External Relations Office’s (ER) programs and strategic initiatives. The DTS also manages, analyzes, and optimizes data systems and technical infrastructure to help ER make secure, well-informed decisions that keep us alumni-centric, data-powered, and aligned across the institution.
This role sits within the Data and Digital Operations (DDO) team, reports to the Director of Data and Digital Operations, and partners closely with colleagues across the department and school leadership.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape how External Relations uses data and AI to support Stanford GSB's alumni community, building the infrastructure and automations that free colleagues to focus on relationships, while helping lead the department's adoption of enterprise AI tools. You'll thrive here if you're comfortable with ambiguity, excited to turn loosely defined requests into clear technical solutions, and genuinely enjoy helping others learn new tools. Experience in higher education, nonprofit fundraising, or alumni relations is a plus, as is hands-on experience with enterprise AI platforms like Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini, though a demonstrated ability to learn new technology quickly matters more than prior experience with any one tool.
Duties unique to this position:
-
Identify and integrate new data sources, including external platforms and alumni life-transition signals, to support ER's evolving alumni engagement strategy.
-
Automate data reconciliation and table-join processes across donor, alumni, and engagement systems, replacing manual spreadsheet-based work.
-
Lead the rollout and ongoing adoption of enterprise AI tools (e.g., Claude) across External Relations, including training colleagues and establishing practical guidelines for their use.
-
Partner directly with Alumni Relations and Development colleagues to translate evolving needs into technical specifications and deliver reliable resources.
-
Validate and quality-check AI-assisted outputs before they reach stakeholders to ensure accuracy and trust in automated work.
This is a hybrid position with the expectation of being onsite a minimum of three days per week. No visa sponsorship available.
The budgeted salary for this position is $136,179 to $165,000 annually. Please submit cover letter and resume to be considered for the role.
