Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville is seeking a part-time Testing Services Specialist to support accommodated testing and the daily operations of the Testing Center within Accessibility Services. This is a 30-week appointment averaging approximately 12 hours per week.
Reporting to the Director of Accessibility Services and working under the direction of the Testing & Accessibility Services Coordinator, the Testing Services Specialist independently administers and proctors accommodated and approved make-up examinations; implements approved testing accommodations; maintains exam security, confidentiality, and accurate testing records; assists students, faculty, and staff with routine testing needs; and supports a secure, accessible, and student-centered testing environment.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Administer and proctor accommodated and approved make-up examinations while maintaining a quiet, secure, and appropriate testing environment.

Review examination instructions and approved accommodations prior to each exam and implement accommodations in accordance with official accommodation notices and institutional procedures.

Monitor students during examinations to support academic integrity and compliance with Testing Center policies and procedures.

Provide approved testing supports, including extended time, reduced-distraction settings, assistive technology, calculators, computers, readers, scribes, and other authorized testing aids.

Prepare testing spaces, computers, examination materials, and other resources for scheduled testing and ensure exam formats are accessible and compatible with approved accommodations.

Maintain confidentiality and security of student information, examinations, and testing materials, including secure storage and return of exams.

Maintain accurate testing records and document testing irregularities, incidents, accommodation concerns, or barriers.

Assist students, faculty, and staff with routine questions regarding Testing Center services, procedures, and testing accommodations, referring complex matters to the Testing & Accessibility Services Coordinator or Director of Accessibility Services.

Support routine daily Testing Center operations, including student check-in, exam preparation, documentation, and basic testing technology and equipment.

Perform other related duties as assigned in support of Accessibility Services and Libraries & Learning Resources.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience:
Experience in higher education, education, student services, testing, academic support, accessibility services, libraries, or another student-facing environment.
Skills:
-
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty, and staff using a variety of methods (e.g., in-person, written, and digital).
-
Demonstrated ability to provide student-centered service in a respectful and supportive manner.
-
Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive student and examination information.
-
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow established testing procedures accurately.
-
Ability to work independently within established procedures and exercise appropriate judgment in routine testing situations.
-
Ability to learn and utilize testing, accommodation, and assistive technologies.
-
Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying learning and accessibility needs.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience working in accessibility services, testing centers, higher education, academic support, libraries, or other student support environments.
-
Experience administering or proctoring examinations.
-
Familiarity with accessibility practices in higher education and the implementation of approved testing accommodations.

Experience supporting assistive technology, testing technologies, learning technologies, or helping students access and use technology resources.
-
Experience using student information systems, accommodation management systems, or other higher education technologies.
