Cytopreparation Technician

Cytopreparation Technician, Memphis, TN Be considered for a new laboratory team at a federal medical center in Memphis. CENM Healthcare, a service disabled veteran owned healthcare staffing agency, is competing for a multiyear federal laboratory staffing contract in Memphis and is selecting its proposed team now. Work is expected to begin in April 2027. This gives interested candidates the opportunity to be considered for the team well before the anticipated start date. What you will do Receive, verify and accession cytology specimens such as urine, sputum, fine needle aspirates, brushings and washings. Prepare slides using centrifuging, smearing, cell block and liquid based techniques, including staining and coverslipping. Check slide quality under the microscope and correct preparation problems. Handle potentially infectious material safely. Maintain instruments, reagents and supplies, maintain specimen records, and assist with laboratory and clinic supply needs. What we are looking for Appropriate cytopreparation experience and the knowledge and skill to process gynecologic and non gynecologic cell samples using liquid based instrumentation. Experience with instrument troubleshooting, calibration and related cytology laboratory procedures is preferred. No license or certification is required. Candidates must live within 75 miles of Memphis and be able to provide three professional references. Selected candidates will need to meet the federal medical center's onboarding and credentialing requirements before beginning work, including applicable BLS, TB screening, Hepatitis B documentation and background and security requirements. Tours may be up to 8 hours and may include evenings, nights, federal holidays and rotating weekends. Previous VA or federal hospital experience is a plus. This will be a W2 position with competitive hourly pay. Schedule and hours will depend on facility needs under the contract.
