Full job description
The Director, International Tax and Transfer Pricing for North America has the primary responsibility for all international tax related activities in North America. The Director is in charge of developing and planning the company’s tax strategies for international operations, managing tax risks and ensuring compliance with all international regulations with a primary focus on lowering the company’s effective tax rate and cash taxes. In addition, this position has strong oversight of transfer pricing policies and practices that impact NA. The director identifies and mitigates tax-related risks through careful management and strategic planning while ensuring compliance with policies. This position is also responsible for ensuring compliance with complex and constantly changing US international tax laws and regulations in a timely and accurate manner. Other duties include determining tax provisions and required disclosures of all tax matters in the company’s financial reports with particular focus on International reporting.
Key responsibilities include:

Tax strategy and planning: Developing and executing comprehensive International tax strategies that align with the company's global business objectives with a primary focus on tax efficient structuring and lowering the company’s effective tax rate and cash taxes.

Cross-functional collaboration: Communicating technical tax concepts to management, finance department, and business units. Advising stakeholders on the NA tax implications of major decisions, such as repositioning’s, mergers and acquisitions. and business expansions across borders including IP transfers. Continued maintenance and enhancement of efficient global tax structure. Also, manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and government agencies.

Tax risk management: Primary focus on transfer pricing policy and documentation including policy development, benchmarking, intercompany agreements and operational transfer pricing with goal of ensuring compliance. -Identifying and mitigating tax-related risks through careful management and strategic planning. Ensure team complies with internal controls over tax processes and reporting to ensure integrity and accuracy. This includes oversight of transfer pricing policies and practices.

Compliance and reporting: Overseeing all Direct tax compliance activities for Canada and all US reporting as it relates to the Controlled foreign Corporations. This includes managing the Canadian tax provision process for financial reporting (e.g., ASC 740, IAS 12, and IFRIC 23) and ensuring accurate disclosures.

Audit management: Oversight of all Canadian tax audits and other examinations by government agencies with special attention to cross-border issues and including developing the company's position on various tax issues and negotiate audit settlements.

Team leadership: Mentoring and empowering a high-performing team of tax professionals. This includes knowledge sharing, skills development -and promoting a culture of continuous learning.-

Tax Modernization: Evaluation and implementation of new technologies to optimize the key tax processes, including provision, compliance and reporting.

Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or other business related field is required

Advanced tax degree (JD/LLM) in taxation is preferred

10-12 years experience with focus on international compliance and planning in a multinational corporate tax department in a manufacturing environment with extensive international operations is required

Preferred prior experience with large public accounting firm or Fortune 500 multinational company

Strong technical knowledge of U.S. international tax rules and global transfer pricing is required.

Leadership and communication: Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are necessary for effectively managing a team, dealing with service providers and auditors is required

Strategic and analytical skills: The ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and translate tax issues into clear business insights for senior management is required

Technology proficiency: Experience with tax compliance software (e.g., OneSource or Corptax) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is required

Certain locations require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $165,500 to $264,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 24% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $205,220 to $327,980. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee. This role may also be eligible to participate in the Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program which is awarded annually at management’s discretion.
