Responsible for leading design and implementation of scalable, resilient, and high-performance applications to modernize Medline's e-commerce platform, integrating with cutting-edge SaaS solutions and ensuring systems are designed for resiliency, reliability, and operational excellence. Drive technical design decisions, mentor junior developers, and embed Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices into our workflows. Specific duties include: Architect, design, and implement innovative microservices and micro-frontends for scalable and maintainable applications, leveraging frameworks like Spring Cloud and Node.js to build cutting-edge backend solutions and driving the adoption of advanced programming techniques, ensuring code quality, performance, and reusability. Act as a thought leader in cloud-native development, championing the adoption of emerging technologies and best practices, and providing strategic guidance to cross-functional teams, aligning technology efforts with business objectives. Lead design reviews and architectural discussions to ensure robust, forward-thinking solutions, and deploy, manage, and optimize applications within Kubernetes clusters, ensuring high availability and resource efficiency. Leverage advanced features like service meshes (e.g., Istio) and Kubernetes Operators to streamline microservices communication and orchestration. Automate infrastructure setup using tools like Helm, Terraform, and Kustomize, designing and implementing event-driven architectures, using tools like Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Azure AIS, and apply advanced design patterns such as Event Sourcing, CQRS, and Saga for building responsive, asynchronous systems. Promote the use of reactive programming frameworks like Spring WebFlux for real-time, high-throughput applications, and integrate and enhance enterprise applications with low-code platforms (e.g., OutSystems, Azure Functions, PowerApps). Define strategies for balancing low-code solutions with custom development to maximize agility and scalability, and innovate within low-code ecosystems to drive rapid prototyping and deployment of business-critical solutions. Define and implement modern architectural patterns like Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Hexagonal Architecture, and Strangler Fig, and develop technology blueprints that align with both current and future enterprise needs, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability in all architectural decisions. Champion modern programming paradigms, such as reactive programming and functional programming, for efficiency and performance, and promote code modularity, testability, and maintainability using best practices and tools, experimenting with emerging tools and technologies to continuously evolve the development landscape. Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert in cloud-native technologies, and dentify opportunities for innovation in processes, tools, and technologies to maintain a competitive edge. Implement monitoring and observability solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack) to ensure system health and performance, optimizing cost, performance, and scalability of cloud-native solutions. Telecommuting is permitted, but applicant must work from the worksite location at least 3 days per week. No additional national or international travel is anticipated. Position reports to Medlines office at 2375 Waterview Drive, Northbrook, IL 60062. Education and experience requirements: PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field, or its foreign equivalent, and 7 years of relevant work experience. In addition, experience with the following skills is equired: (1) Handson experience designing and optimizing cloud native, microservices based applications, including building scalable and secure APIs and event driven integrations, deploying resilient services in Kubernetes for high availability and horizontal scaling, and applying observability practices to monitor and troubleshoot distributed systems; (2) Experience developing, optimizing, and supporting Azurehosted backend services using Java (Spring Cloud) and Node.js, including building scalable and secure cloudnative APIs and microservices, configuring Azure infrastructure such as AKS and managed services, troubleshooting production issues using logs and metrics, and deploying changes through CI/CD pipelines to meet availability, performance, and latency requirements; (3) Experience using Kubernetes for container orchestration to deploy, scale, and operate microservices with automated updates, autoscaling, and selfhealing, including configuring servicemesh technologies such as Istio for secure servicetoservice communication and standardizing deployments using Kubernetes manifests and Helm; (4) Extensive experience designing and supporting eventdriven architectures using messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ and reactive programming frameworks to build resilient, highthroughput asynchronous services with reliable publish/subscribe and queue processing across distributed microservices.; (5) Experience applying modern architectural design patterns, including DomainDriven
