Financial Reporting Analyst

Description We are looking for a Financial Reporting Analyst to support a Financial Services organization in Chicago, Illinois through a Contract to Permanent opportunity. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning complex financial data into clear reporting and meaningful business insights. The position will focus on analyzing performance, identifying trends, and helping stakeholders make informed decisions through accurate and timely financial information.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports that translate raw data into clear business performance insights.

• Examine financial results against forecasts, budgets, and prior periods to highlight key drivers behind variances.

• Build and refine financial models that support planning, reporting, and decision-making activities.

• Gather, organize, and evaluate large data sets using data mining techniques to uncover trends and anomalies.

• Partner with finance and business teams to deliver analysis that supports operational and strategic initiatives.

• Investigate reporting discrepancies, validate data accuracy, and help improve the reliability of financial information.

• Develop concise summaries and presentations for leadership to communicate findings and recommendations.

• Support ongoing analytical projects by responding to business questions with timely and well-structured financial analysis. Requirements • Experience performing financial analysis in a corporate finance, reporting, or analytical environment.

• Strong capability in financial modeling and interpreting data to support business decisions.

• Demonstrated success with variance analysis, including identifying root causes of performance changes.

• Ability to conduct ad hoc analysis and respond effectively to shifting business priorities.

• Proficiency in working with large data sets and applying data mining techniques to generate insights.

• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in reporting and analysis.

• Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to stakeholders.
