It is not a paper-only or audit-focused role. The ideal candidate will have applied SPC experience, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and comfort working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) to analyze manufacturing data, identify process variations, and implement preventive corrective actions.

  • Interpret control charts, standard deviation, and process capability (Cp/Cpk) to optimize processes and reduce defects.

  • Proactively identify trends to move quality efforts upstream and avoid reactive measures.

  • Own and maintain customer RAILs and participate in daily customer-facing meetings.

  • Respond promptly to quality concerns, documentation requests, and defect issues.

  • Employ SPC and process improvements to lower Defective Parts Per Million (DPPM) and enhance monthly customer report cards.

  • Review and support First Article Inspections and GD&T callouts.

  • Collaborate with inspection teams to resolve dimensional issues and nonconformances, supporting inspection planning and controls as needed.

  • Engage with suppliers to address failures or outages, working with Purchasing to resolve supplier quality issues and influencing corrective actions.

  • Participate in daily cross-functional communication meetings.

Essential Skills

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer.

  • Strong, hands-on experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC).

  • Proficiency in FRACAS, failure analysis, and testing.

  • Knowledge of quality engineering, process control, and quality management systems (QMS).

  • Experience with ERP systems, RAIL, supplier quality, and performance management.

  • Strong skills in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in the medical device, automotive, hydraulics, or similar precision manufacturing industries.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or active application of DMAIC tools.

  • Proven experience in reducing DPPM or similar customer quality metrics.

  • Lean Six Sigma knowledge is beneficial.
