Full job description

Job Title: Head Gymnastics Team Coach Employment Type: Part-Time, Hourly (Non-Exempt) Reports to: Gymnastics Coordinator

Position Summary: Under direct supervision of the head team coach the Girls USAG Team Coach executes the team practice working cooperatively with the team coaching staff, prepares for competitions, executes day-to-day responsibilities to create a safe, secure and enjoyable environment, and ensures the safety of all program participants by complying with the safety guidelines and curriculum set forth by USAG Gymnastics. Provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for participants on the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead structured team practices focused on skill development, strength, flexibility, and routine preparation

  • Coach athletes during practices, competitions, and events

  • Adapt coaching techniques to accommodate varying skill levels and individual athlete needs

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for athletes and parents regarding:

  • Practice expectations and coaching-related questions

  • Competition (meet) schedules, logistics, and preparation

  • Communicate important updates, reminders, and announcements to families using designated platforms

  • Send regular reminders regarding practices, meets, deadlines, and program updates

  • Direct any escalated concerns, administrative issues, or matters outside coaching scope to the appropriate supervisor

  • Assist mentoring coaches to ensure consistency in coaching methods and expectations

  • Monitor athlete progress and provide feedback on skill development and performance

  • Ensure proper technique, progression, and safety standards are consistently followed

  • Coordinate and prepare athletes for competitions, including routines and expectations

  • Enforce facility policies, team rules, and code of conduct

  • Maintain equipment safety and report any maintenance needs

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture

  • Complete other job responsibility and duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must possess current CPR certification

  • Certified Instructor (USAG/USTA) or equivalent. Additional specialty/certifications preferred.

  • Must have working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles.

  • Must have working knowledge of gymnastics teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, tempo, technique, and rhythm.

  • Previous gymnastics/tumbling/trampoline teaching or coaching experience.

  • Professional demeanor and ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members.

  • Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit for long hours and work with various types of gymnastics equipment. The employee must frequently lift and/or spot up to 50 pounds, and occasionally must aide or assist participants.

Hours: This position requires the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Able to work specifically on weekday evenings and weekends.

Hourly Rate: $24.00
