The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Senior Product Manager – Advanced Materials, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Owning the advanced materials EBO product lifecycle and translating product strategy into actionable plans that deliver profitable, sustainable in-market performance
  • Leading product strategy, roadmap delivery, feature prioritization, and business-case development for next-generation expanded beam optics platforms serving co-packaged optics and high-power optical interconnect applications
  • Translating voice of customer into product requirements, specifications, architecture choices, and development priorities, while guiding qualification, launch, sales enablement, and customer qualification planning
  • Developing product business cases, forecasts, pricing strategies, and portfolio recommendations using financial analysis, market insight, and scenario planning
  • Building technical credibility and coordinating across R&D, supply chain, manufacturing, commercial teams, customers, and ecosystem partners to accelerate time to market and customer adoption

Company Vehicle (based on location) This position requires driving a company vehicle, which will require pre-employment and ongoing review of motor vehicle history for candidates who are offered and hired for this position

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or a related technical and/or Marketing field (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Five (5) years of product management, product development, or technical marketing experience in optical interconnects, photonics, semiconductors, or related data center hardware in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Five (5) years of experience managing products through NPI or Stage-Gate processes from concept through volume production

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree or higher in optics, photonics, materials science, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution
  • Direct experience with co-packaged optics, expanded beam optics, fiber-to-chip connector technologies, ceramic materials, precision manufacturing, or advanced packaging
  • Experience working with semiconductor, switch OEM, hyperscale data center, optical engine, or connector ecosystem customers and partners
  • Experience managing products through qualification cycles with Tier 1 semiconductor or hyperscale customers and operating in rapid iteration environments
  • Experience building business cases, forecasts, pricing strategies, or P&L recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams across R&D, supply chain, manufacturing, and commercial functions
  • Strong communication, financial acumen, decision quality, agility, and stakeholder-management skills; MBA or demonstrated business strategy experience is preferred

Work location:

  • San Francisco Bay Area, CA (preferred) or St. Paul, MN,; on-site at least four days per week at 3M Center in Maplewood, MN

Travel: May include up to 35% domestic and international travel Relocation: May be authorized

This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
