Description: Position Summary The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator manages all aspects of the volunteer experience, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and ongoing support for individual and corporate volunteers. This position collaborates closely with program leadership to identify meaningful volunteer opportunities that enhance service delivery and align with Pittsburgh Mercy's mission and strategic priorities. Additionally, the Coordinator oversees Pittsburgh Mercy's In-Kind Gifts Program, ensuring donated items are solicited, received, documented, acknowledged, and distributed effectively to support client and program needs. The role also assists with donor engagement activities, special events, and other Development Department initiatives that advance fundraising, community engagement, and outreach goals. Essential Functions

  • Manage all aspects of volunteer engagement, including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, training, scheduling, recognition, and ongoing communication.
  • Ensure compliance with all required federal, state, and local volunteer clearances, background checks, and documentation requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategic volunteer recruitment initiatives to expand and diversify volunteer participation.
  • Cultivate and strengthen partnerships with corporations, educational institutions, faith-based organizations, and community groups.
  • Utilize volunteer management software to schedule volunteers and maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, training, participation, and impact.
  • Foster a positive volunteer culture through targeted communications, volunteer appreciation initiatives, recognition programs, and volunteer newsletters.
  • Collaborate with program managers to identify, develop, and coordinate meaningful service opportunities that support client health, wellness, and recovery outcomes.
  • Manage the In-Kind Gifts Program, including wish list development, donor outreach, gift solicitation, receipt and acknowledgment of donations, inventory tracking, and distribution of donated items.
  • Coordinate and facilitate individual, group, corporate, and team-based volunteer activities, ensuring a positive and impactful volunteer experience.
  • Support the planning and execution of fundraising events, donor engagement activities, online giving initiatives, and community outreach efforts.
  • Participate in Development Department meetings and collaborate on departmental goals, campaigns, and strategic initiatives.
