We seek applicants who are dedicated to servingThe University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’sstudent body as a Part Time Lecturerof History beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. Teaching responsibilities may include History 1301 and/or History 1302, History 2321, 2322, or, if qualified, upper level courses, including traditional face-to-face and/or online sections. UTRGV is a distributed campus.

Minimum Qualifications

M.A. in History or a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in history.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualification

Experience teaching HIST 1301 and/or HIST 1302 is desirable but not essential; Experience teaching first generation college students and/or experience teaching at a Hispanic Serving Institution ( HSI ) is desirable but not essential.

SalaryPart-Time Lecturers are paid per SCH bases commensurate with experience and/or qualifications.

Texas law requires faculty members whose primary language is not English to demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by a satisfactory paper-based test score of 500 (computer-based of 173 or internet-based of 61) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language ( TOEFL ) or a satisfactory test score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System ( IELTS ).
