Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support a non-profit organization in Raleigh, North Carolina through a short-term Contract engagement. This role will focus on core accounting work tied to budgeting, audit preparation, and financial record maintenance, with an emphasis on contributing quickly in a fast-moving environment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on Blackbaud experience and can step into day-to-day accounting tasks with minimal ramp-up time.

Responsibilities:

• Record and post journal entries accurately to maintain complete and timely financial data.

• Support budget-related activities, including entering updated budget information into Blackbaud and helping organize financial details for review.

• Assist with audit readiness by gathering documentation, reconciling records, and helping address accounting questions during the close-out process.

• Perform general ledger activities and routine accounting work to keep financial reporting current and reliable.

• Partner with internal stakeholders on budget and accounting matters, providing practical support where needed during the engagement.

• Use Blackbaud to manage accounting transactions and maintain financial information efficiently throughout the assignment.

• Contribute to short-term priorities by helping finalize budget work and preparing records needed for upcoming audit activity. Requirements • Prior experience using Blackbaud in an accounting environment is required.

• Background in budgeting and audit support, with the ability to contribute immediately in a short-term assignment.

• Experience working in non-profit accounting is strongly preferred.

• Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger activity, and day-to-day accounting processes.

• Ability to manage assignments independently and produce accurate work with limited training.

• Familiarity with tax-related accounting concepts, including exposure to corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return support, is a plus.
