SUMMARY:

Supports engineering teams by applying advanced knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering to design and coordinate complex and large-scale projects. Manages technical efforts that directly impact system reliability, maintenance, and service quality for customers. Communicates with internal teams, customers, and external agencies, ensuring projects meet technical standards and regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees for engineers in designing and coordinating complex engineering projects related to electricity transmission and distribution

Applies advanced electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering principles to improve system operation and reliability

Communicates effectively in writing and verbally with customers, company personnel, outside agencies, and other utilities for project negotiations and information exchange

Performs detailed field inspections to verify compliance with material, equipment, contract, and design specifications

Establishes project schedules, delegates tasks to other technicians, monitors progress, and verifies work quality

Prepares, verifies, and evaluates engineering drawings, charts, graphs, and technical documentation

Independently negotiates project details internally and externally, making decisions that impact project outcomes

Provides training and mentorship to junior technicians and assist in onboarding entry-level engineers

Assists in department budgeting by providing relevant technical information and project cost insights

Ensures adherence to applicable codes, standards, and engineering practices within assigned projects

Generates and analyzes computer data to support engineering decisions and project planning

COMPETENCIES:

Expert knowledge of applicable codes, specifications, standards and engineering practices and principals to area of responsibility

Ability to gather and synthesize complex or diverse information

Extensive background of theoretical and practical knowledge to develop solutions or recommendations to concurrent projects and issues

Ability to recognize and define objectives requiring action

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university with five to seven years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and or experience related to the discipline.

Business needs dictate that the incumbent must routinely perform the identified tasks 75% of the time.
