Job Summary:

The Lead HVAC Technician is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and residential heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems. This position serves as the technical leader for HVAC operations, providing guidance to technicians, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintaining system reliability, and delivering high-quality customer service.

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $22.50/hr - $32.14/hr

  • Employment Type: Year Round

  • Shift Type: Full Time hours available

  • Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership

  • Lead and mentor HVAC technicians and apprentices.

  • Assign daily work schedules and prioritize maintenance and repair activities.

  • Provide technical support and training to team members.

  • Ensure all work is completed according to company standards and industry best practices.

Maintenance & Repair

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems.

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on HVAC equipment.

  • Inspect and test systems to verify proper operation and efficiency.

  • Respond to emergency service calls and critical equipment failures.

Installation & Projects

  • Oversee HVAC equipment installations, replacements, and upgrades.

  • Review blueprints, schematics, and specifications.

  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and facility personnel.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, and company safety policies.

  • Maintain proper documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.

  • Conduct safety meetings and promote a culture of workplace safety.

  • Ensure technicians utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

Customer & Facility Support

  • Communicate effectively with customers, facility managers, and stakeholders.

  • Provide recommendations for equipment improvements and energy efficiency initiatives.

  • Assist with budgeting and planning for HVAC system upgrades and replacements.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Technical school or HVAC certification preferred.

  • EPA Universal Certification required.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of HVAC experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or lead technician experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, controls, boilers, chillers, rooftop units (RTUs), andrefrigeration equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and energy management systems.

  • Experience with preventive maintenance software or CMMS.

  • Journeyman or Master HVAC license, where applicable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Leadership and team development abilities.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with HVAC diagnostic tools and test equipment.

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and CMMS software.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces.

  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and mechanical spaces.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

Working Conditions

  • Commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential environments.

  • On-call rotations and emergency response may be required.

  • Exposure to electrical equipment, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.

The expected pay range is $22.50/hr - $32.14/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
